Default Exhange Rate - Tahiti

I am tring to exchange some U.S. $ before I get to Tahiti, but the local service provided a horrible exchange rate. Where is the best place to exchange US $ in Tahiti (airport..we arrive late on a Saturday night...in town?) AND what exchange rate (How many local francs)can I get in Tahiti per $100? Is there a lower rate for higher amounts (e.g. $500). Any help would be appreciated because I think I'm getting ripped off here in the U.S.by the company my bank sent me to. Oh..does anyone know the exchange rate on the PG?

I would say that it is better whenever possible to use your credit card as you get a better exchange rate than if you exchange money on the islands. However, you never mentioned what exchange rate you were offered? Tell me what it is and I will tell you if it's better than what you will get here.
