Need help on planning Melbourne itinerary

Our ship will be in Melbourne overnight and on the first day we'd like to visit Healesville Sanctuary and a winery nearby in Yarra Valley.

1. How much time should we allow for a visit to Healesville Sanctuary?

2. Are there any good wineries nearby that would be open on a Tuesday for tastings? Any that have food?

3. What is the best way to get to these places from the port? Since we are four people would we be better off hiring a private driver for the day?

Any suggestions on

companies ?

Any information would be greatly appreciated as we are trying to plan our day.

SF,

You would need to spend a few hours at Healesville Sanctuary to make the most of the visit.

There are a number of companies which provide tours to the Yarra Valley including Healesville Sanctuary and a winery.

Below are some links which may help. As you are overnighting in Melbourne, you don't have any time constraints except perhaps what time you are able to disembark on the first day,

http://www.wildwombatwinerytours.com.au/tours/healesville-sanctuary-tours/ - this includes a visit to the Sanctuary and lunch at a winery.

It is quite feasible to rent a car for the day. Most of the major companies have offices/depots in Melbourne. You may have to take a taxi to the pick up point though.

This company provides car and driver for tours into the Yarra Valley, they may be worth contacting -https://www.cityhirecars.com.au/tours/

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you enjoy your visit to our beautiful city.
