Breakaway casino why not?

Ok, so Bermuda refuses NCL to keep its casino open, casino means gambling for money.....NCL uses tickets, how come they can't keep the casino open (slots only), not have any cashiers distributing money...the machines do not give you back money but paper tickets, which is not gambling....why can't the casino remain open and just use paper tickets, that's legally not considered gambling because there is no money distribution. Maybe something that NCL needs to look into?

Their country, their rules, its pretty simple if you don't like how the game is played.........don't play

Putting some of the other comments/opinion aside....

The suggestion above would not work. First off, that "paper" is still worth money. You can use beads, bottle caps, whatever you want. It is still gambling. Do you really think any government would allow that?

Your suggestion gives back paper tickets that are worth MONEY. Pretty simple stuff there.

Bermuda made their choice. And so did NCL. We are actually going on a comped by a casino cruise, of which 3 days include no casino. Go figure?

That's just the thing there isn't much to do at night. We love to listen to a live rock n roll band there is none from what others told me....there are only certain nights that shows are shown am I correct? What is there to do at night on the ship?

Bermuda is boring at night nothing to do can anybody suggest anything with music or some type of entertainment that is offered there nightly?

Bermuda didn't complete the dock in time as they promised for the Breakaway, I read in the Bermuda Gazette it could be few more months until its completed...now taking that in mind, wouldn't you say docking this size ship in a dock that is declared not safe a risk...what if there bad storms or high winds why is Bermuda being so negligent, I say because they want our money, so to me, the fair thing in return, allow NCL to open its casinos (even if its just a few hours set time during the pm or wee hours in the morning) since they did not complete what they promised to NCL, they did have two years to complete this project.

Huh? Not to be mean, but how are these things related? The law is the law and it doesn't often make compromises.

Bermuda and NCL should make a deal....pier not finished....then allow casino gambling on the ship. My opinion....the way I am if I didn't follow through a promise I make it up somehow, I feel Bermuda should make it up to NCL, again, my opinion.

I'm not interested at all in Casinos so I don't care but I still think that they should be able to have their Casino opened everywhere.

Can't it be compared with the "airside" on an airport? In Sweden it's not allowed to serve alcohol before 11 am but after security on the international airports, it's okey to serve alcohol.

Ummmmm...Bermuda's laws don't allow this. There's a huge cruise ship sitting right at the dock. If you're looking for something to do, there are the nightclubs on board. Plenty of food venues. There are also great shows in the ship.

Not sure how much more you might need to do.

Because of the unfinished pier, could you not go onto the island?

Correct they said as long as there no storms or high winds she can be docked. Im sorry do you think that we would do that here in the USA dock our ships at a pier that is not finished and if its not completed wouldn't you say there could be a risk of something happening? Its just something that has been on my mind.

The dock was completed enough for the ship to dock there successfully last week and this week. There shouldn't be any issues, nor the need for NCL to "negotiate" a waiver of gambling law. If it wasn't safe, they wouldn't be docking there.

Sounds like you need to try a different ship and itinerary.

I'm just not getting what opening the casino has anything to do with the pier not being finished. I'm sure that if there were storms or high winds and you could not go on the island, NCL would add additional activities (sans casino) for your enjoyment.

I cannot find a single thing to do or see in Bermuda at night, does anybody have any suggestions, we do love listening to music at night.

I have a suggestion........swap places with me in 17 days time!!! ;)

You will be going on a super new ship to a gorgeous location........I, on the other hand, will be having treatment for my joints.......the Bermuda sunshine would be great for my recovery!! ;)

Heritage Wharf is usable. They are still finishing the extra piling and need to remove the construction equipment but the Breakaway was alongside for the inaugural trip as promised. Temporary piling is in place to provide the necessary strength for the dock.

There is lots to do on the ship at night with clubs, shows and dining. On Wednesday night there is Harbour Nights in Hamilton, on Thursday night the Dockyard normally has a special event. You can also go to the nightclubs, pubs and restaurants in Hamilton and often the Snorkel Park parties in the dockyard.

For Casino addicts it is unfortunate that Bermuda, like Hawaii, does not allow gambling and there is a significant movement in Bermuda to change that. Until that happens it is normal for companies and people to abide by the laws of that country and not circumvent them which is both illegal and immoral.

That is why, when I researched a Bermuda cruise, decided againist it, since you are in port for three days and no casino.

Meltingmoments hahahaha yeah best to be on any ship and any port than nothing so true. I live with fibromyalgia, anoloking spondolosis and I know what pain is so sorry you having joint problems, what type of treatment you getting? I do hope it helps but never heard of joint treatments do you have RA?

Billet- So glad to hear there are things to do on the ship at night, I so used to docking during the daytime when everything is closed other than a few trivia things happening on the ship. This is my first cruise that I taken that will be sitting two and half days in a port so I not know what to expect. We do love to play the slots at night after the shows...we do stay up late also so this is the reason why we just wondering what is there to do past 11pm. We love listening to music a live band but the Breakaway doesn't offer this, I wonder whether the comedy club be available while in dock?

I not sure whether we will do the Harbor Nights do you know exactly what is that is it worth going to and I would assume I take a ferry to Hamilton are the ferries running at night?

NLH Arizona- We never would consider taking a cruise out of NY (we live in Florida) nor take a cruise to Bermuda and sit there two and half days but my other halfs brother and sister in law booked up the cruise and mentioned it to us and of course his dad also said why not go together, so we just decided to take this cruise to be together, it be fun. :)

There is loads of live music on the Breakaway.

Fat Cats has a band, and Howl at the Moon is excellent live music. On the evenings Howl isn't on then you will have the Second City comedy show. There's lots of other music around too.
