Talking Cascade Waterfalls, Port Vila.

Has anyone organised a trip to the Cascade Water falls in Port Vila once you get off the ship?, rather then organising it through the cruise company? Is it better or cheaper?

Hi

We organised a tour through Evergreen Vanuatu Tours before our cruise. It was cheaper & they were great. Their office is located at the end of the Main Street.

Do it yourself - it is better and cheaper.

When you leave the wharf area there will be dozens and dozens of taxis. The falls are more than half an hour's drive from the ship. You can get a taxi (or small van) to take you to the falls, wait for you (say 2 hours) then take you back to the centre of town or back to the ship. Negotiate the price and pay at the end. A year or so ago you could get a taxi for AUD$60 so the price might still be similar. Make it clear that the price is the total price - not one way and not per person.

Entry to the waterfalls is AUD$20 per person. There is a small toilet/change room near the entry if you need to put on dry clothes before going shopping, but it is probably simpler to just dry off as you walk. It is 25-30 minutes walk through a rainforest to the falls. Wear waterproof footwear - reef shoes are best, but if you don't have those, Crocs sandals would do.

i was there last week just grab a cab on wharf he will try you out on price but around 6o bucks will get you a round trip he will wait there pay at end 20 each to entry to falls if you arent too fit its a bit of a walk but you can do it pretty easily about 20 minutes to top. dont forget take some biros tshirts stubby holders etc you know all the promotional stuff you have lying around at home etc as gifts for drivers they appreciate it they only make 15 to 20 dollars a day he will drop you off in town on way back so you can buy some duty free booze dontbother with anything else cigs are too expensive in vila $48 they are $33 in noumea
