Is Yacht Club worth an extra $1,500?

I'm planning my first cruise on MSC for next year and I can do a Yacht Club Deluxe Suite for $1,500 more than a Balcony Aurea. It's a 14 night on the Meraviglia to Germany, Norway, Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands. Those who have sailed both YC and Balcony Aurea do you think it's worth it? I don't. Convince me.

If you don't, nothing can convince you.

You need to weigh up what's on offer and differences between the 2 'Experiences' and work out whether the extras in Yacht Club are worth it to you. Is it possible to put a value on what a dedicated restaurant with better food offerings than the MDR, lounge, pool deck, concierge is to you? Not to mention butler service, escort onboard at embarkation, priority tendering, etc. You can calculate the extra cost of a deluxe (premium) drinks package which is included in a Yacht Club booking but that's about all - everything else is dependent on the value you place on it.

Have you sailed both experiences? I'm asking for opinions from those who have sailed both to weigh in on whether they personally think it's worth it.

It's $1,500. It is $1,500 per person, but I'm sailing solo, so a yes or no answer to your question is hard to give.

These are dirt cheap prices for what you get. With that being said, I get the cheapest room I can find so that I can cruise more. But I am low maintenance, don't need anyone waiting on me, and am easily satisfied outside of a few very big splurges here and there.

To me, a room is a room. But others have other needs. What are your needs?

Yes ............... I've sailed Fantastica and Aurea balcony as well as 4 times in the Yacht Club. Yacht Club gets my vote. It far outweighs any other 'Experience'. There is nothing to match it for value on any other cruiseline IMHO.

Is it worth...? For us, yes. Because we prefer a laid back and quiet experience, and all the amenities of the YC. Also because we feel the current deals are not forever and we want to take advantage of that. If we were out at the bars all night, and wanted a lively pool experience during the day, I would book differently.

I think that everyone who can afford the Yacht Club shall book that NOW!

When everyone understand what a bargain it is the prices will go up, they must go up!

I came home from our first MSC cruise last Saturday and I must say that the value for money is increadible. We have already booked a new cruise in the Yacht Club because we thought that it was so worth it.

It seems like an awful lot, but then again traveling single and having a more than 7 day cruise complicates it.

I am traveling in 2019 on a 7 day MSC Seaside cruise. and the difference in price for 2 people is only $1000 more to go in a YC1 vs a B3 .

Is the $1000 worth having the Yacht Club experience, private club pool, lounge and pool and sun deck and not fighting the hordes?

When I compare to what I paid last year on NCL for a 7 day Balcony room, with the Adult Beverage Package, I would say it very much is worth it.

You can always go Bella Balcony, and add the associated drink package to it ala cart, if room service and actual choice of room and dining times is not of importance to you.

No . MSC staff told me they don't want solos in the YC.

Sooooo, let me get this straight. For a little more than $100 Per day, in addition, you, as a solo, can have the Yacht Club with a balcony YC suite?? Daaaah...it's a no-brainer...of course you go for the Yacht Club!!! :D I am sure that you would be welcomed into the YC as a solo.

of course it's dirt cheap and the deals aren't going to last....but u cannot convince people to part with that extra 1.4k. The OP's mind is made up. They are just waiting for us to affirm their decision (which I think the OP wants to go to the Yacht club).

To OP - Do what you want to do. It's your money. We will support w/e decision you make. Make a decision. :D

Hi Sveri,

I wrote a letter to MSC management back in June. I had surveyed the plans for Seaside and noticed that they would not have enough two room suites for the YC. Evidently they had a mania to keep all the YC cabins on the same decks as the YC. The scream to be near the restaurant was the driving force behind this decision...but that does not solve the lack of two room suites. OK...so what if you have to take the elevator up 3 decks to the YC...so what!! I predicted that the demand for the YC would go through the roof. BTW I got a great message back that the matter would be sent to the designers. Hopefully they will realize that the demand for the YC is going to increase dramatically.

You are right Sveri, the demand for the YC will continue to increase.

If the Yacht Club area increases too much, it'll lose its exclusivity factor. Yes, the prices will increase according to demand which may even impact on my ability to consider a YC booking in the future. I'd rather that than weaken/water down the product offered!

I think I'm kinda like you. I don't need a butler or anything, but I like to drink and eat good food. The drinks on Aurea seem sufficient but I'm wondering if the food is much better in the YC. I hear it's pretty bad on MSC in general.

So it's not worth it because I'm not wanted there? I don't really care if I'm wanted or not, they'll accept my booking and take my money and I can assure you that I won't be treated poorly, because I won't stand for it.

I think you might have misunderstood my OP because I wasn't thinking I wanted to go to YC. In the end obviously I'll do whatever I want to do, I was just wondering what those who have cruised Aurea and YC thought about one experience vs. the other. Seems like people overwhelmingly like YC, but tbh the reasons given "butler service, escort onboard at embarkation, priority tendering, the "experience", private club pool, lounge and pool and sun deck and not fighting the hordes" don't seem like good value for the extra $100 a day. I understand that to some that's worth MORE than $100 extra a day.

I have to wonder: Why did you bother to ask?

I put my reason for asking in the OP, my post right before yours has my reason for asking and I also literally responded directly to you with my reason for asking, so I trust you'll understand that I am not answering that question again.

I'm happy to explain myself if I was unclear if you have a question that hasn't been answered ad nauseam,

Guess what? I don't need a bunch of strangers to convince me whether to book YC or Aurea or not ..... or anything else, for that matter! I make my own decisions.

It's an experience. Is it one worth an extra 1500? Maybe not for me (actually it's a flat out no, but that's just me). Half the fun of cruising is watching other drunk make a fool of themselves. I don't mind any kind of craziness as my baseline everyday job is chaotic life and death situation. So a large crowd doesn't faze me since I have a high tolerance. Plus I like wondering around the ship, seeing new places, going to the events, and just being out and about instead of being localized in a few 100 sq ft. But again, that's me and i know some people that's their ideal situation or they cannot walk around well, so I get their perspective.

And I should clarify myself on my second post - In the end the vast majority of our decisions are made by our subconscious. Many argue that we pay attention to those with views that are similar to ours.

IDK your financial situation. I've been cruising on other lines, not MSC yet as you can clearly see in my signature. But in the end these deals will not last for long. It's your call. I would only book the YC or the Haven and etc. if I were on a chartered ship. My colleagues would think higher of me (unfortunately...). But more importantly I don't want to see them in a speedo next to the pool, make awkward small talk with people I don't like, and dine next to really arrogant industry leaders who are so full of themselves and love the smell of their own farts. That's a situation that I would pay the premium, esp since part of the cruise would be covered by my job ;)

Just my perspective on when I would pick the YC

For me it's a VERY BIG ADVANTAGE that there are so few two room suites in the Yacht Club. NCL have lots of two room suites in the Haven and even if I haven't seen it there are many reports of the Haven taken over by lots of children. I don't mind children if they are well behaved but not everyone is.

I love that the Yacht Club has so few two room suites.

I understand that the prices will go up but I really prefer that over more Yacht Club suites and a lower price.
