Questions and need help with Royal Caribbean wedding booking

Just wondering if anyone has booked a wedding with Royal Caribbean recently and if they were able check availability for a certain day through Royal Romance wedding specialists?

A few days ago, we called RCCL's Royal Romance Wedding specialists to inquire if Dec 2nd was available for a ceremony before booking our main cruise. Were we told they do not have access to the booking system and that one of their wedding planners would have to call us back to confirm availability for that day. However, the rep we spoke to said it would take up about 30 days before one of there wedding planners could contact us.

I'm a little bit surprised their Wedding specialists wouldn't have access to availability information and that we would have to wait 30 days for a call back from their wedding planners before we know if Dec 2nd was available.

We went ahead and booked the cruise anyway and will call Royal Romance again tomorrow. Maybe we need a booking number before they can check availability.

Has anyone encountered this before? When you called their Royal Romance wedding specialists, were you able to check availability for a certain date? I hope we won't have to re-book our cruise, since according to Royal romance it's going to take 30 days before we know if that date is available.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I got married on RCCL years ago when RR was run by The Wedding Experience. If you are planning on getting married in port before the ship sails, I would call back and see if you can get someone else with better answers. 30 Days seems crazy to me.

If you are getting married at one of the ports... I would do some comparison shopping with the local wedding planners for the port you desire. Sometimes they can customize it more for less money and they have more contacts and locations available.

I am getting married on board RCCL in May. When I first called I was very nervous and not sure I made the right decision. After two weeks of not hearing from them, I called back and said I had to speak with someone if I was going to have my wedding with RCCL in order to book everything. (I was originally calling in Aug for a July wedding). They passed me thru to someone and I got everything taken care of. Later that night, someone else called me back too.

Come Nov I had to move my wedding to May. I called back and told them I was not happy with the first person I was speaking with as he had not answered my emails and I had no way to get in contact with him. A few hours later another women called me back and she has been great ever since!!

I am no longer stressed and everything is moving along.

Well, I called RR back a couple to times yesterday and was told again to leave my phone number and a wedding planner would give me a call back. I was also told again they had no access to availability and could not book a date for me. When I asked how long it would be for the call back, they said a couple of days to a few weeks. I'm very disappointed with Royal Romance's lack of response and lack of help in general. I guess I'll just have to wait for their call back and hope it's not a month from now and hope the date I want is still available.

I know it is frustration. I hope they call you back soon! The good news is, as you can see from this board. Most people get married on Carnival and their dates are harder to come by. When I was looking in Nov to move my wedding up from July there were still a lot of dates available. So I do not think they fill up as fast as carnival.

Thanks for all the help! Knowing this is the normal process with RCCL eases my anxiety slightly. I'll let you know when and if I get a call back. Good luck with the rest of your planning and have an awesome wedding!

The issue is that the department is so overwhelmed that they have regular reservation people taking initial calls and answering the basic questions.

They do it by date of the wedding, so if you are asking about December its going to be quite a while before you get a call back.

Just call back and tell them that you have already called, no one has called you back and that you’re quite upset. You booked your cruise and just have to reserve the wedding date and you want to speak to someone immediately. Ask for the manager / supervisor. We did and got someone to call us back that day.

  • 2 weeks later...

After waiting three weeks for a call back, I decided to call Royal Romance to ask if anyone was ever going to call us back.

Well to my surprise, the Royal Romance rep that answered the call was able to check availability and also emailed me a wedding contract to fill out and return within 5 days. She said the ceremony date would be held for 5 days while I filled out the contract. I find it surprising that she was able to do all this, when all the previous reps I called could not.

Anyhow, she said once I send the signed contract back, someone will contact me within three weeks for payment.

I was just wondering, am I'm suppose to send the signed wedding contract back to someone specific within the Royal Romance department, or do I just email it back to their general address at royalromance@rccl.com? The Rep that sent me the wedding contract to sign was one of their Royal Romance specialists and not one of their Wedding planners. I'm worried that If I email it back to their general email address and not to someone specific, it might take them ages again for them to respond.

Also, does it really take up to three weeks before another person contacts you for payment? If my ceremony date is only held for 5 days and it takes them three weeks to respond, is there a possibility I could lose that day? Will I receive a confirmation email from RR that the day has been booked?

Sounds like you finally spoke to someone from the actual wedding department! We were told that they have so many calls coming in that some are automatically routed to the regular reservations dept. However, the reservationist can see the call came in to Royal Romance and they answer as if they are part of that department and just answer general questions about weddings onboard and send out brochures.

I would email the wedding contract back directly to the person that emailed it to you and the general email address. Once they get the contract back your date is set. It will take a week or two before they call and ask for payment.

You can always call to confirm that they received your contract and the date is confirmed. They can do several weddings in one day, so usually it’s no problem. If you have a specific venue in mind, I would handwrite that somewhere on the contract so that they know - as far as venue – it’s first come first serve.

Was there not am email address or fax number on the contract that was sent, if so follow the directions.
