Default Safety - two women walking and taking bus

My 26 year old daughter and I will be in Nassau early May and are interested in visiting the zoo/gardens and the Fish Fry. We would like to do some walking around to see the sights and use the bus; just play it by ear, in other words. Will this be safe for us to do? Just recently there was a report on here (which I cannot find now) that four women were robbed in broad daylight which has me rethinking this. Would we be better off using a ship sponsored tour? Thanks all!

You shouldn't have a problem in daylight if you stay within the tourist areas.. Which is were you are describing.

The are the women were robbed were a bit on the outskirts of town. (its a shame none the less) I think they were on West St, a little off path.

Stay where other are walking or congregating, Don't wear jewelry, flant money or bring big purses.

I walk alone all the time, never had a problem (except at Atlantis marina village). Just be aware of your surroundings and don't go to secluded areas.
