KCcruisin07 Posted January 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2015 We return to Venice from our cruise on 5/23. I wondered if it is safe to plan to fly out at 11:30 a.m.? How early do I need to be at the airport and how long does it take to get there? Most of the one stop flights leave by 11:30.
Globaliser Posted January 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2015 It depends in part on what time your ship is scheduled to dock, and how long the cruise line thinks it will take you to disembark. Have you asked the cruise line what it recommends? In addition, are you likely to be able to self-disembark, carrying all your own luggage? Does your cruise line actually offer this? Or will you have to wait for the usual disembarkation by groups? Once you're in a taxi and rolling, it should take no more than 30 minutes to get to the airport from the cruise terminal. KCcruisin07 Posted January 13, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted January 13, 2015 Thanks, that was helpful. I checked with NCL, and they said the earliest recommended time is 11:30.
Chairsin Posted January 13, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2015 We did that last June but it was close. We only made the flight because 1) we were first off of the 200 passengers Seabourn Spirit and we were berthed at San Basilio not the large cruise port, 2) we had prehired a car/driver who was waiting for us at 8am when we walked off the ship, and 3) at the very crowded airport because we have United premier status we were able to check in at a desk with a much shorter line. I am not sure that I would do it again. I really don't like to cut it that close. Sent from my iPad using Forums
