shetland Islands Lerwick

We will be in the Shetland Islands mid september and would like recommended tours and tour companies for our stay there. We will be on a cruise. Also, can you give me some idea as to what kind of weather to anticipate.

Windy.

Cloudy.

Raining.

Temperature 10 to 12c.

We will be visiting at the end of September. Somebody on our roll call arranged a 3 hour charter sailing perfectly for our port call. Once posted on the roll call, the sailing filled quickly to capacity of 12. The company's trip advisor reviews are great, and I am looking forward to the excursion (even though it may be cloudy, rainy and windy).

I just came back from a cruise that went to Lerwick and would definitely recommend Allen and Shetland Geotours if you want to see sights around the island and the landscape there. We went to a Viking ruins site, the lighthouse where you can see puffins, and a beautiful beach. We also stopped to see Shetland ponies and other scenic photo stops. His van fits 8, so it's a nice small group.

This is a great trip. You won't be disappointed, whatever the weather.

It is nice to hear more positive feedback.

We live in the Northern US, so I think we can probably handle pretty much any weather. Well, we are not accustomed to really extreme heat, but that seems even more improbable there than here:).

Have you thought about hiring a car? you can collect it right at the port and drop it back there at the end of the day its so easy to do. We had a fabulous day doing this in June this year and the weather was fantastic :)
