Carnival Fantasy-Sick Passenger Cruise was canceled today

Sick Passenger on the Fantasy caused the ship to return to Mobile port. The ship never made it all the way out to sea. Hope he gets better soon.

Carnival is giving their guest the option to stay on the ship and get a full refund or stay on the ship. They will refund 50% and give them 50% off their next cruise.

You know what really bothers me, is when you read comments from passengers about how angry or hurt they are etc. It's not like they just cancelled the cruise. For all we know someone's life was at risk. Is just shows how selfish a lot of people are.

I hope the sick passenger is okay. "Stay on the cruise ship to spend the rest of their time at sea and receive a 50% refund and a 50% credit on a future Carnival cruise, or get off the ship and get a full refund" seems fair. Nobody likes their vacation to be interrupted, but this sounds fair based on the circumstances. Best wishes to everyone affected.

The compensation sounds more than fair to me, since a missed port of call usually only gets you fifty bucks, if that. A three day cruise to nowhere, with half your money back, plus 50% off your next cruise... I'll take it.

My sister-in-law said that everyone understood and was concerned for the sick passenger. She said the Coast Guard escorted them to Mobile and Carnival was amazing to everyone.

They definitely got a fair deal out of the situation, can't say what I would've done but I would've been content. And, I've said it before and I'll say it again: a bad day at sea is MUCH better than a good day on land! :D

Essentially, they are getting a free cruise. More so if they pick a more expensive cruise for their next one. I would parlay that into a great Alaskan cruise at half price.

Actually the cruise wasn't cancelled. It got into port around noon and left back out to sea around 4pm. It's now a CTN and will return on Monday as scheduled. The word is that a woman stabbed a man and hit an artery. They were requesting blood donations. He looked somewhat awake and alert as they were taking him off the ship in port.

As it should be. You can't expect to get 50% off your next $25,000 cruise if this one was only $400.

When we got a 25% off a future cruise for missed ports, it was a full 25 % off our next cruise..didn't have any dollar value from what we originally paid.

 

I used it to get a wrap around balcony on the freedom and got a great discount

Will Carnival let you apply discount like that? I thought the future discount was based on the fare paid for the original impacted cruise.

We received a 25% future cruise credit from a cruise last year on the valor. We applied it this year to a cruise on the Triumph and upgraded to a balcony room. The only restriction was that it had to be the same length cruise (or shorter). If applying it to a 7 night cruise, they would only reduce that fare by 25% of the fare paid on the valor.
