The final day on a fly cruise

We are flying to Malta to join Oceana in 2 weeks time, and wondered what happens on the last day. Our flight home is not until 7.00pm, so we have most of the day to enjoy before heading for the airport. I assume that just like Southampton based cruises, suitcases are left outside the cabin on the last night, and only hand luggage left for the next day. Is it possible to leave hand luggage somewhere safe, so that we can go ashore and enjoy our last day, and is there provision of somewhere to freshen up before being taken to the airport.

Yes there is a luggage drop facility and you can come and go as you please with all ship's facilities available to you except of course your cabin. Our flight had bonded luggage so we didn't see our cases again until we got to Gatwick but not all flights are bonded.

Not sure about freshening up - our flight transfer was just after breakfast so not needed. Thankfully the airport seems to have got its act together re departures since we came through a couple of weeks ago but with a later departure I suspect it won't be quite as busy as our flight time.

It's easy to walk off and explore Valletta - enjoy! We had a great time.

We have booked the farewell to Malta excursion, we did this on previous Caribbean cruise with the farewell to Barbados excursions. It was excellent, no hassle, a great day and delivered to the airport at end of excursion. We will do this with all fly cruises in future if flight time allows for it

We were considering this one, but it finishes around 1230, and our flight is not until 7.00pm, so it would mean somewhere around 6 hours at the airport. So we shall probably do one of the other tours that return to the ship.

Hi are you on E707c, we are on 11th may 2 weeks, hadn't thought about the last day have been so preoccupied about the first day only landing at 18.30pm !:')

Will need to think about that now!!

Yes, we are on that one, we are flying from Birmingham, and having just checked the flight details, land in Malta at 1800 hrs. We have booked several P&O excursions, but in Piraeus, and the mid cruise stop at Malta, we have booked tickets for the HoHo bus. All we need to sort out is what to do on the departure day, but will probably wait until we are on board and see what the arrangements are for disembarking times, before we make a final decision.

Had a email from P&O saying they have cancelled our farewell to Malta excursion, as the timescale does not fit in with flight times. Ours is 7.0 flight also. They refunded and suggested we re-book with the revised times. Now we find the excursion only leaves at 2.30. So wondering can we leave the ship in morning and return to it later before the excursion. The one thing I am not keen on with fly cruises is the waiting about and requirement to vacate cabins early morning. Of course I understand why they require this, but wish they could organise things better

We are on this cruise now, and have actually booked the Farewell to Malta excursion for next Thursday, as they have now changed the timings. It now starts at 1.45 and drops us off at the airport at 4.45. So for a 7.00pm flight that is ideal. We intend popping ashore in the morning, and returning for a bite of lunch before going on the excursion. If there is a problem with that, I will report back when we get home.
