Getting to RI from Boston port

we need to get home to RI from Boston. Do we take the T or commuter train? Are they the same thing? How do we know which "line" to take and where do we go to get on in the first place??? :D Helppppp.

You can take the silver line to South Station, and then the commuter rail or Amtrak to Providence (commuter rail to Warwick).

Sounds good. Is that the easiest way?

So I ask the cab driver to take us to the T station? Sorry, just want to have his figured out before we go.

For clarification, the Silver line in this area is a bus, not the T.

Trains leave from South Station. Intercity buses leave from the bus terminal next door to South Station.

South Station is about a mile from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. To get from the cruise terminal to South Station, you can take a cab or take the MBTA Silver Line:

Its still called the T.

The T could mean the subway, bus system, Silver Line Rapid Transit, or the commuter rail. Or the ferry system.

Ok so to sum it up, I take the silver line BUS to south station , then hop on either the commuter train or Amtrak to providence, right????
