Hobart dining

Hi guys,

Not cruise related but hoping any Hobart or Tasmania cruisers can help!

Have a weekend away booked for next month and have been researching dining options.

I have settled on Pilgrim for breakfast as I've read fantastic reviews and like the sound of their modern breakfast date.

For dinner, we are looking something fine dining / modern for $300 price range for two including wine.

I know Source at Mona is highly recommended however it is more than I'm wanting to spend for 8 courses and wine, especially as this is meant to be a cheapest quick weekend away.

I've found great views and menu for Montys at Montpelier. Has anyone been here before and can share their exprerience?

We only have two full days so will also be visiting Salamanca market, a winery day tour, and then a day at MONA & Moorilla winery. It's going to be a pretty jam packed weekend!

Thanks for your help :)

Hi there are quite a few options.. The revolving Restaraunt at the casino, Astor grill is very nice, prossers on the beach(seafood). There is a Facebook page called eating out in tassie that has reviews and recommendations that may help you decide. There are plenty of restaraunts in Salamanca or if you can travel some nice options out of the city.

You have a number of choices and my suggestions come from the chef at Saffire…

1. Smolt - interesting and I like the fact you can do the small plates options

2. Henrys in Henry Jones. Dont discount because it is in the hotel. I've had 3 absolutely smashing meals there.

3. Garagistes. It didnt knock my socks off but my bar is pretty high

There are a lot of options around the city/Salamanca area, but my choice would be:

Me Wah - its in Sandy Bay and amazing place and has just this week been awarded the Best Restaurant in Tasmania plus best Asian restaurant in Vic/Tas. Check them out on tripadviser , plus they have a website and facebook page. Highly recommended.

MrsWaldo mentioned garagistes- that is now closed.

Pilgrim is a great choice for breakfast.

I haven't been to Montys, but I have heard good things about it.

Ooops I forget Me Wah.

No surprise on garagistes closing. I was underwhelmed and in a place where there are so many good food places….
