Favorite Line?

I realize I am on a DCL forum but does everyone here like Disney Cruise Line the best or are there other lines you'd recommend? I'm only asking because it is the only line I've ever been on and I have been told it is extremely different from other cruise lines.

A veteran of 17 cruises on 6 different lines, I can honestly say there is no such thing as a bad cruise. I enjoy all lines for various reasons.

Disney would be my favorite, but not in a run-away. Disney has top notch entertainment and the best staterooms on any fleet, but the price is a major concern or we'd do it more often. Last year, we did the Magic because of the sail dates (7-day Friday to Friday, which we needed) but had to do a lot of dipping into savings. This year, Magic is due to the Kids Sail Free promotion.

I like Norwegian because of the flexible dining and price point is usually pretty good.

I like MSC because it's a different experience, but the food is usually not catered to American tastes.

The one Carnival we were on was eh, probably won't do that again unless the price is too good.

Would like to do more than the one Royal Caribbean we have done, but prices keep us coming back to Disney.

The one Costa ship we were on was fantastic due to getting a great deal on their spa verandah categories.

I prefer DCL.

I have been on RCI, good bits, the ship, the pools, and reserved sitting for concierge in the shows,and Windjamma buffet, Ship TV, but abused by entertainment staff, Ice shows, poor, the food ( hit or miss), Desserts, the cruise director, ( very poor compared to DCL) The shows, the guests better than on ship entertainment. Feel like a wallet and they want to upcharge everything, soda, steaks, coffee, ( its terrible).

Princess, Ships nice, but similar to RCL as above, food a bit better but hit and miss, pools not as good, Entertainment fair.

With children, I wouldn't sail any line other than DCL. I've been on RCCL and was beyond disappointed.

Without children, DCL wouldn't be my first choice unless I wanted a short getaway cruise, in which case they are convenient and offer the best product on the market for 3-4 day cruises.

I have been on over 20 cruises on 6 lines, we have enjoyed every cruise.

Some thing we actually like better on other lines.

My son loved HAL with in cabin DVD players and free movie rentals. We liked the nacho and pizza buffet on HAl,too. shows-no so much.

We have tried Carnival twice and have decided that we prefer not to sail with them.

When we sail on another line, we try not to compare it to DCL. We enjoy the cruise and concentrate on making great memories.

Disney is by far far my favorite.

I am actually looking at a 15 day for 2014 right now!

It feels like you pay more but you wont loose in the casino.. and you don't have to buy sodas ;)

My personal experience with Disney wait staff is not comparable. These guys and gals made my day when I was tired and feeling surly... this is no small task I assure you. I have never on any line other than Disney had a hard time pointing out all the times someone made my day, or made my cruise special. .. I put some thought into my feedback and Disney needs to give me more paper.

When my Carnival cruise is over this December, I will have had a good time but I will be ready to go home... I never want to get off the Disney ship... want a back to back just to see how it feels to not have to get off.

Wonderfully written! Took the words out of my mouth. My family has decided to take the DLC and only remain on this line unless our friends plan to take another line. We invited our friends on the Alasaka DCL cruise last August and

the wife cried during the last breakfast before disembarkation. I get goose bumps just watching the DCL on youtube and we have only 6 cruises all of which is Disney under our belt. We are blessed to be going on the Fantasy on March 30 and on June 15 on the Mediterranean cruise. Am I interested in taking other lines....? No, not really unless I am invited by our friends. The experience is PRICELESS.... the smiles and laughter of my wife and 2 girls 16 and 6. :)

As you can see in my sig I've been on Rccl a lot. I've loved cruising with them every time. Their ships are fantastic. That being said I am sailing Disney now and am very excited about it

So far our favorite line is Princess. We've never been on a Disney cruise before, and I have heard such great things, so we decided to try it.

I agree that there is something special about Disney. As already mentioned, the cabins, the entertainment and service are top notch. Unfortunately, Disney does not sail everywhere I want to go so I have to use other cruise lines. Also, when I travel solo I would not pick Disney (too expensive with 200% single supplement).

I know EXACTLY how you feel! Everyday dh and I wake up and say, "Can we just go back onto the Wonder today?"

I have only experienced Carnival and will not be using them any longer. It has nothing to do with the recent problems, we decided this after our last cruise. I am beyond excited about my first Disney cruise! I have a feeling that as long as we can afford it, we will return by what I read on this site. I also have been leaning toward trying Royal Caribean.

My other half is not a Disney fan by any means, although it is but a 10 minute drive on a good day, we go to Disney World rarely and normally when a CM friend takes us and the OH will go to keep me happy.

Our friends and family couldn't believe I was taking him on a DCL and were truly amazed, so now the scene is set let me go on.

So when I booked our first DCL I was a little worried but he absolutely loved it. He said to me when we got home I don't want to sail any other line but DCL. Now that was a wow moment believe me!! (We will be going on other lines in the future as I have trips planned but I will never get him on another CCL but that suits me perfectly, I deserted that brand in 2009, enough said).

The good thing is on board the Disney thing is there if you want it but it is easy to avoid a lot of it, some of it is unavoidable of course but we spent a lot of time in the adult areas of the ship during the day and evening and also enjoyed the adult beach too. Everything about the trip was smooth, from embarkation to disembarkation and everything in between.

Negatives, I don't have many, expect to say the food wasn't great but it was OK for what it is, mass catering.

So far, Regent is my favorite, After 50+ cruises, I enjoy most cruises.

Regent - Wonderful food and service

Carnival - Lots of fun with the younger parts of my family

RCII - Lots of bells and whistles. (ice rinck, rock wall, etc)

HAL - Good service and great music

NCL - Good entertainment

Windstar - Very good food, no entertainment, small ports

There are lots of lines we did once - That was enough

There are also lots of lines that have been wonderful, but not sailing anymore

We are doint our first Disney this spring. No kids - just two old people. I have wanted to do do Disney since the Big Red Boat.

We've done 23 cruises on 11 different lines. Only one bad one on a line named after a country in Epcot. We have sailed almost all islands in the Caribbean, Pacific coast, Med, British Isles, transatlantic, New England and river cruising so we have vast exposure. We have run the gamut from inside to full suite to luxury. We would return to Carnival unlike other comments. Was it our favorite? No, but it was a lot of fun and value packed. As we've grown, we have downsized and love small ship experiences. We sailed on the Magic 11 years ago with our 3 kids and had a blast. We always wanted to return because of the lasting memories. No other ship has done that to us. Price was always a factor for the other cruises which are considerably less. Well, we did it! My wife and I at 62 and 58 are returning and have booked the Dream for the 2 of us. There is something special about Disney that we have not found elsewhere. We are big Disney fans with 17 trips to both Anaheim and Orlando. The cruise is the epitome.

I could have warned you that Mexico Cruise Line wasn't going to be a great one.

We have also cruised on RCI and Celebrity.

Due to the smoking policy (and the inability to use our veranda for an entire cruise) we will not cruise RCI again until they change the policy. I know DCL has the same policy, so we are hoping not to have a smoker next to us in June and next May. Their ships are beautiful, but very busy.

Our cruise line of choice is Celebrity. Beautiful ships, calm calm atmosphere.

Disney is crazy expensive, not worth it for us. Although the cruise next year is quite the bargain. But our cruise this June, well, I'll just say that if it weren't a family cruise, we would never pay that type of fare.

So to answer your question, Celebrity.:)
