Need scuba advice - royal clipper caribbean

All - new to this site and especially to royal clipper cruising. Our first trip with this group.

We are avid scuba divers, and need experienced advice on a couple of topics

- is there enough good diving to warrant bringing our gear?

- where would we store the gear during the trip?

- are the dive masters well trained - and ughm - good?

- does it ever sell out - and you can't go diving?

- I understand you 'sign up' the day before?

- how many dives can we do a day?

- is there time to see sights AND dive in the same day?

Any / all advice for a new cruiser would be GREATLY appreciated.

We are booked on the southern trip for Nov 22 -- our annual trip to the islands for US thanksgiving!

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

Hi,

I've been on the Royal Clipper twice, however only dived once. There was one dive master. The dive itself was (Martinique) was very good. However, the dives did book out awefully quickly. There was a meeting with the dive master either on the first evening or the second day on board (cannot recall exactly now anymore) and by then several people had already enrolled. However, I do think it can be different on any trip... the system was: people enrolled themselves in every dive on every day and cancelled more than 24 hrs pre the dive so they didn't have to pay in case they didn't go and they were on if they wanted to go. I think it's not worth brining your own gear... the cabins are way too small to store it (unless you stay in the owner's cabin) and I wouldn't store my gear with the dive guys down there, but I guess you could. The gear was good, I mean I dislike wearing a weight belt instead of integrated, but hey that's how it is with hire gear... apart from that the gear was spot on!

This now sounds all bad... it's actually not... I'm sure you'll have an awesome trip!

All the best,

V.

Ah - sights and dive in one day... well, in my case that didn't work. And as far as I can remember it's always either dive or going onshore... it's not THAT much time on land as a lot of time is spent sailing and getting from one spot to another one
