Anyone stayed in cabin 8199 Equinox/Solstice

I am confused as to whether this has a large balcony with some people saying the plans are not correct. Any help appreciated. We are light sleepers so really want a quiet cabin.

Thanks

Yes, it does have a large balcony with 8197 next door having the larger of the two. You should be fine with this stateroom. It's up forward on the ship. It has the bed by the balcony configuration.

Where did you hear anything about deck plans not being correct on the Solstice and/or Equinox?

The cabin does have an oversized balcony which is very nice. There's nothing to suggest that it would be a noisy cabin. It's in the hallway away from the elevators and stairs (but close enough to be very convenient) and there are cabins above and below it.

Returned recently from the Jan 12-26 Eclipse sailing and stayed in 1044. That's 2 decks up and on the starboard side of the "front hump". Yes, the posts above are correct that 8199 has a nice oversized balcony (and yes 8197's balcony is even a bit larger).

Importantly, we also really liked the location on that "front hump". It's far enought from the forward elevators (2-3 rooms) to not hear any noise, but close enough to get around the ship easily. Also the mid-ship hump is at the grand atrium and althought the sliding doors between the elevators and the staterooms seem to do a good job with soundproffing, the atrium is a pretty loud location in the evenings with the live music etc. The front hump area is much quieter.

Enjoy your cruise!

Are you saying 8199 has the bed near the balcony layout or 8197 has that configuration?

8197 has the bed by the bath. You can tell because it has a fold out sofa bed & upper berth. All those sofa beds and upper berths are always by the balcony, so the bed in this cabin will be by the bath.

Since they alternate, bath/balcony/bath/balcony/bath/balcony, you just need to count up or down to find out some other cabin configuration. With 8197 having bed by the bath, 8199 will naturally have bed by the balcony.

Thanks for the info and even more for the explanation which make sense. It goes to show that not everyone here with over 5000 posts is a blowhard!

Or even those below 5000 posts. ;) Have fun on your big balcony!
