Panama Canal Cruise in December

I am looking at sailing from San Diego through the Panama Canal in December; but would like to know if the seas in the Pacific Ocean are rough at this time of the year. I would appreciate any input as to the best time to sail if they are rough. Thanks.

Keith is correct (as usual ;):D). You are sailing on the ocean. It could be rough, or calm, or somewhere in the middle.

Typical Panama Canal "season" is Oct 1 to mid May. Cruise lines don't go thru in the other months. As April/May is Spring, it might be calmer then, but no promises.

The Canal is an awesome special event. I wouldn't (and we have sailed the Canal 3 times) put a rough sea in front of going to the Canal.
