Default Junior Suite Guarantee Obsession

Started with a guaranteed inside (no room number allocated), then swapped it for a balcony guarantee (no room number allocated), then swapped it up for a junior suite guarantee. Now I'm checking my online reservation every hour as I'm dying to know what cabin we'll end up with!

My wife thinks this is great fun and wonders why we've never booked a guarantee before! I hope we know soon as I don't think I can stand another 2 months of this!

Any ideas when RCI usually allocate rooms?

Each reservation is handled separately. It can be up to the time of boarding but that is very rare. Usually it is within 24-48 hours after booking. If it hasn't been assigned within 4 days you can always call and ask.

I love this game too

When I have booked gty I normally get a cabin assigned within hours.

**

I have to tell a funny story about gty:
A few years ago we were going on the Brilliance.
On the roll call was, among others, 2 friends and a couple from Philadelphia.
I was living in Spain at the time and my TA was in Germany.
A Monday the they all booked 2 suite gty. category cabins. (they used RCCL USA)
The Thursday I booked a suite gty.
The Friday we all got Grand Suites allocated next to each others!!

There might be a perfect explanation to this, a coincidence, but I thought it was so funny.....like RCCL knew....What is the chance of us getting a same category cabins next to each others....There must have been more than those 3 GS suites available as gty..??

Not a fan of guarantees, but only because I like specific cabin locations.

The one time we booked a guarantee, we got our cabin assignment about 2.5 months out from the cruise - almost a year after we booked.

Very good! Just to stretch the coincidences a little further, I see you have Alesund as your location. That's one of the ports we'll be visiting on this cruise!

Sure could be. Royal (and all cruise lines) often overbook their ships with guarantees as a way to ensure they sail full. Airlines do it, too. But two months out it is unlikely to already be overbooked. That usually occurs when guarantees are sold last minute.
