If they can......then why can't they.....

Recommended Posts

Ok, If they can have cruises from new york, boston, jersey, to the caribbean and to bermuda......then why can't they have cruises from florida to new england and to bermuda? If they don't have to fly down here to go to the caribbean then why do I have to fly up there to go to new england/canada? and bermuda? :( Did I mention that I hate to fly?:o

No reason I can think of........drop it in the RCCL suggestion box. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Well, I am originally from MA as is my DH. He flies up every october for a weekend. I stay home and play at the casino. I love to visit new england but I don't want to fly and my DH won't drive or do the train. So, I wish wish wish they would have the cruise to new england/canada. We also want to do the bermuda. Guess I'll have to throw some money into a fountain or a wishing well, maybe click my ruby red shoes and someone will hear me.

I just did a quick check and if you can get to Charlestown South Carolina (how long would the drive be) then there is an NCL ship (I know it's not RCCL but it's better than nothing) that goes to Bermuda this year.

And I bet if one goes this year there will be more for next year.

Let's get some cruises from Baltimore and Norfolk that go further south--bypassing Bermuda and hitting the Caribbean Islands! Shoot--Bermuda is just off the SC/GA coast! If I wanted to stay that far north, I'd drive to a vacation destination!

Go South, Young Travelers!

While we are putting requests in, I want a Freedom Class ship on the North East Coast. LOL!

I would live on that thing if I could drive to it. ;)

That one sounds great but, Let me know if you find another one.... My DH will not do HAL. We went on the Veendam a couple of years ago and he HATED it. We did it 'cause it was out of Tampa which is a 20 minute drive for us to the port. But he HATED it. He hated the ship the food etc. The only thing that made it bearable was that we had a huge suite and gave us access to the CL and we had an invitation daily to some cocktail party or lunch with the captain. He also liked the white glove treatment when we boarded to our room. But that was it. He said he would not do HAL again. I could drive to VA easily but not DH. I have a tough enough time getting him to drive to FT LAUD and MIAMI. :p (in his defense, he does alot of driving for his job, all over florida so the last thing he wants to do on a vacation, is drive)

That's all I could find for now. And on HAL you would have to fly back so I guess it defeats the purpose...lol.

Just keep checking the travel booking sites (like expedia/travelosity/etc) and search cruises by destination. There is bound to be a special cruise sometime from FLA to New England. Even if it's just a repositioning cruise. You would only have to fly once.

I am from NY and we usually fly to Florida to cruise the Caribbean. The choices of islands are limited from NY and it is a lot cheaper to cruise from FL., even with airfare.

I think you have a great suggestion there, so why not send it in? Part of their reasoning may be that it will need to be more than a 7 day cruise to go to Canada/NE from Fla.

No desire to go to NE, but would be nice to have one that goes to Bermuda. I will go from Norfolk with my BFF in 2009, but sure would be nice to go from here. I don't think you would be at sea any more days from here than from Norfolk.

Celebrity did have 10 night cruises back in '02 out of Dundalk Terminal to the Carib., St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Nassau, stopping first in Charleston SC. You really need 10 days to do a Caribbean out of Balt. Most folks I think prefer 7 night cruises and you just can't do a Carib in 7 days from Balt.

Same thing for us Floridians, we can't do Southern Carib unless we take a 10 day, leave from San Juan, or do a 10 or 11 night Panama Canal cruise.

It is all about logistics and of course profit margins.

Personally, I hate having to fly to FL or SJU for a better selection of cruises. :( I wish there were better itineraries and bigger ships out of NJ. I lLOVE the Explorer but want to experience other voyager or freedom class ships without having the extra air expense. sigh.

medfordgirl - this is off the topic but could you tell me how far the Tampa cruise port is from the Tampa airport?

I would say it is 5 - 10 miles and a 15 - 25 min drive depending on traffic. There is a ton of construction going on at the airport. Will be going on for a long time.

NO, NO, NO!! You don't want to go on that ship. I repeat, if you are used to Royal Caribbean, you don't want to go on the Norwegian Majesty. We live in South Carolina, but I'd prefer to fly to New Jersey. Might change my mind yet, but don't think so. We took the Majesty to the Caribbean. What a letdown!

That would be awesome! I know Freedom class has gone out of NY/NJ for those preview cruises. Maybe one day...

We flew to FL for our last cruise, it was so much more of a pain than driving right to the port.

What part of Pa...?? You said you could drive to it...so I assume youve sailed out of Cape Liberty? We are sailing out of there in Jan. Any advise on this? I heard something about overspray on vehicles...etc
