Free Trade Zone

Also the free trade area is a group of warehouse type buildings that are used for commercial trading. It is not an area where an individual can go and get individual items.

I don't think you can even go there unless you have a pass or some sort of permission from one of the companies that are based there.

There is a tremendous duty-free zone and a large shopping center located in Colon which you will probably pass by on your way back from a tour, but I am not sure it is accessible on one's own. In addition, this is not the safest town to walk around alone in. I do know the Duty Free area is responsible for a major rush hour traffic jam that most of us got caught in returning to the ship after a day's excursion.
