Default Best Halifax Tour For My 64 Year Old Parents...

Hi,
Mom and Dad are going to St. John and Halifax. In St. John they will be doing a highlight tour w/ Freedom Tours & Travel. They want to do the same in Halifax (can't find a tour company) or maybe something better that someone could recommend. Should they do a tour through Carnival? Not to much walking please...Thanks

I don't know if Carnival will offer this tour but when we did HAL's Maasdam's Ft Lauderdale to Montreal cruise a couple of years ago we took a tour they called "Fine Wines and High Tides tour". It took us by bus from the harbor out into the countryside to a winery, Domaine De Grand Pre winery, where we got a tour and then an extensive wine tasting. After the tasting we went to Hall's Harbor, a small fishing village on the Bay of Fundy, which I believe has the highest tides in the world. Then we returned to Halifax to a local restaurant, Bish World Cusine. where had one of the best lunches I have ever had. During the whole meal we had large water glass sized glasses that they kept filled with wine, either white or red, from the winery we had visited earlier in the day. Here's the link to the winery we visited.

And here's one to the restaurant.

It was a nice low keyed way to spend the day and I think everyone who took the tour enjoyed it.

Have a great next cruise.

Carnival offers a similar tour called "VALLEY & VINEYARD TOUR". I don't know if they do the late lunch like we did in Halifax but it does sound similar and does visit the same winery we did. here is a link to it on Carnival's site.

Have a great next cruise.

We, and several on our rollcall thread, are using Shoretrips for our Halifax excursion. The company was recommended highly by one of our member's travel agent. Here's a link to the Halifax options: http://www.shoretrips.com/common/sea...=NEW&lcode=HAL

We're doing the Halifax and Peggy's Cove Combined Tour, but they have two Annapolis Valley tours as well.

Post Halifax Tour

My DH and I along with another couple are traveling to Halifax in Oct.

We have booked a 5 hour tour of the City of Halifax and Peggy's Cove. This is a private tour and we can do whatever walking we choose and move at our own pace. I use a walker and my friend a cane, so we did not want to go on a ships tour and take the chance of holding people up or having to be more mobile than we are able.

Our tour is with "Bruce's Tours" He has a website you can visit, if so desire.

The other companies noted in a previous post have similar tours and they all seem to have some good reviews. Check out the Ports part of this board and look into "Canada" - lots of good info.

Have a great trip.

How was your tour with Bruce Tours? My mom and I have one booked with them for next week. Did he meet you on time and all that?
