Does the casino on the Getaway have a poker tournament during every cruise. Do they have more than one poker table? The previous ship we were on only had one table. Asking specifically about hold em of course. Particulars of the tables/tournament(s) would be welcome.

When I was on Getaway they had a 1-2 No Limit Texas Holdem every night as long as there were a min of 6 players. I think the table was full most nights and the games ran pretty late. I don't remember what the rake was since I don't play Holdem on cruise ships .... but heard a few ppl complain about it being excessive.

Also they have a BJ tourney but no Holdem tourney.

Sailed on Star in December and on Getaway in July. Both had one poker table with a cash game every night. Table was full every night after first night with a waiting list. It was a $1-2 game with $100 min, $500 max. Rake is 10% with $25 per hand max. Very excessive but with a captive audience it was the only game in town, lol. As far as tournaments, I think there were at least 2 tourneys on both 7 day cruises. They were $100 buy in with rebuys and a huge rake as well (I think 25%). Hope I helped answer your question and then some. Lol!

Thank you for posting about poker on the Getaway. Is the table electronic?

When I was on it last year, it was with physical cards. I believe this is fleet wide for NCL. The only electronic tables I have encountered have been on Carnival, but only have NCL and Carnival as a reference.

Just returned from the Getaway Eastern Caribbean. The ship only has one actual poker table manned by a dealer. I did play in the cash game on three different nights. The dealers were very good but the table and its location were a little awkward. I have played on several ships with electronic tables and found the spacing of the chairs and the lack of physical cards and chips to be preferable to the Getaway arrangement. It may have to do more with ambient noise and traffic on the Getaway, but I was uncomfortable. Tournaments were held at blackjack tables until the final 10. This led to playing at a five person table for several levels. I guess I am a creature of habit but my poker brain is not as engaged at a blackjack table. Needless to say I did not play well. Sour grapes, maybe, but I think I will not be playing poker on the Getaway soon.
