How long should we allow to get from the airport to the Jewel on Sunday? We arrive in San Juan around 1:00 p.m. We would taxi or take Uber if that's available in San Juan. We have heard the traffic is quite heavy.

In our experience the ride is usually 30 minutes or less. Taxis are plentiful - not sure about Uber.

What you need to plan on is the return to the airport. Not so much with traffic but with the security and slow pace of the airport based on large crowds on cruise ship departure days. Plan to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours before your flight departure to be safe. And from the ship to the airport is the same 30 minutes or less.

This is why we decided to stay a couple of nights after our cruise from SJ. It was as easy as pie to fly out on a non ship morning =) We actually flew in and out on non ship days. It was almost glorious ;)

Traffic is pretty heavy in San Juan this time of the year. Specially on Sunday. It will be easy to catch a cab at the airport. But if there is a festival or big event happening that day, it can take up to an hour to get from the airport to the port. At least the Jewel of the Seas is in the Panamerican Port, and you don't have to get inside Old San Juan to get to that port.

Welcome to CC. Once you get your luggage head directly outside. That time of day you will most likely be standing in line to get a taxi. First come, first serve type of deal. A rep for the taxies will ask you how many in your party and where you re heading to. As mentioned in a previous post you will be heading over to the PAN AM pier to board the JOS. Enjoy the Jewel. She's our favorite Royal ship.
