Rick, I booked this afternoon. Rod and I have a cat 1A 7286. It is one of those on the side of the hump with the bigger balcony. My TA said they were swamped with bookings for this ship. Great ship in a port I can drive to. May have to go on more than once while it is here.

Pat, make sure to check the deck plans. Apparently, they have renumbered the cabin on the Silhouette. Make sure you get the cabin you want.

Nevermind, I just checked and it is one of the angled cabins.

Rick, I am getting the other group from the explorer to go on this sailing. I know Dee said she was booking today. I feel if I talk about it enough, everyone will get as excited as I am. Love Solstice when we sailed her but always felt that 7 days was not long enough, but with Silhouette and 12 days, it sounds perfect.

Hi Rick,

Well, we booked today too! Pat convinced us that this is a great ship. We're in 9292 which is one of those angled cabins just past the hump and it looks like we're directly above Pat and Rod but 2 decks up. Are you and Kathy booked?

How have you been? I bet Nicole has gotten big! Hope we get to see you guys in November 2011.

Patty

Don't forget Kim and Carol too!!! It'll be great to all be together again. We really had a nice time last March with Dee, Kim and Carol..........to bad you and Mimi had to cancel. It sure didn't take long to find a cruise for all of us.............LOL

I'm trying to find out information about the ship. What's free on the ship and what has a charge as far as restaurants, etc. I just read on the main boards that Elite's can get an upgrade........is that true or did I misunderstand? I feel so dumb because I don't know anything about Celebrity and I totally don't understand the different classes or the difference between them.

Patty,

The upgrade is for inside or oceanview cabins, one category. What it really means is you book and inside or an outside and are charged the price for one category lower. Book a 9 charged for a 10. Book a 4 get charged for a 5.

Any questions, just ask here. Pat and I have both sailed Solstice.

Steakhouse, Asian, and Italian restaurants all have a charge. Bistro on 5 has a charge as does Blu.

Being elite will get you some nice perks, some free internet, some free laundry, I have yet to sail with them since they upgraded Elite, but they do a happy hour type thing for us kind of like the concierge club

Thanks Rick,

Rick and/or Pat,

Do you know what they charge for the specialty restaurants? Do they have anything like the Explorer's Promenade Cafe where you can get something to eat at night? .....or would you have to order room service? During the day is there anywhere else to eat for free or is it just the buffet? I'm just trying to find out as much as I can about the ship. All of us from 2007 are pretty much RCCL cruisers so we'll all be asking tons of questions.

Patty

So glad you guys got over here. Restaurants are Muranos, I think the charge was $30. Tuscan Grille, itlalian, $20 and on this ship a new restaurant Quisine don't know the charge. All these prices more than likely will go up. Also they have Bistro on 5. This place has crepes and paninis, the charge for this is $5. You can go for any meal there. It is open 24 hours a day. We like it for lunch especially the first day when everyone is crowding the buffet before getting into their rooms. I wasn't aware that Blu took anyone else for dinner there even for a charge. They also have Cafe Abacio, spelling is not too good. no charge for food but great Italian coffee which they charge for. They also have gelato which has a charge but it is outrageously good. No real buffet at night but some food up there. Pizza always, pasta, sushi, ice cream and what else I don't remember. They still will have at least one deck party with food on this trip perhaps two. Also by the indoor pool is the Aqua spa cafe. Healthy food here but tables are at that pool for you to eat. no charge here. One night you have to see the Corning Glass blowing show. It is held on the lawn on the top deck. They have shows every day and night up there.

Pat,

Do you mean there's no buffet at dinner time?? or did you mean just later at night?? So everyone has to eat in the MDR or a specialty restaurant??

Noooooooo, I sure hope there is a buffet for dinner .

We're booked, cabin 9209

Pat, we always look forward to coffee in the concierge lounge. Does Celeb offer anything like that ?

Maybe some of you will get invites to the preinaugural of this ship. We had our turn on the Liberty so I sure hope some of you get your turn. Really great.

Rick, Pat, can we have dinner in a place like the windjammer? Sure hope so because I think this cruise won't work for us if we can't. Tell me some good news LOL

Mimi

Mimi,

I'm sorry, but I can't help you with the buffet question as we always do formal dinner. Do to the fact they did away with the casual dinner and charge they have on the M class, my thinking is they do keep the buffet open to some extent. They do offer Select dinning, their anytime dininging.

Just a quick chuckle. My daughter has this little tropical purse she received on her first cruise. It's now been on 8 cruises and goes to church durning the summer.
