Plus-Size packing tips

Those of us that are plus-size know that our clothes when folded take up a little more room.

What is the best fold that you have found that takes up the least amount of space?

Any other packing tips for the plus-sized babe?

so far i have found just folding in half twice and stacking everything so that it lies as flat as possible works best so far. But that's when i have free reign of suitcases and dont have to confine my clothes and the DH's clothes in one huge suitcase.

I've always found that rolling my clothes both takes up the least space and minimizes wrinkles. I can get a LOT more in a suitcase this way!

I so love the ziplock method. I put an entire outfit, including bra and undies in a two and a half gallon ziplock bag and squeeze all the air out. everything is at my fingertips. Then I use the bag to put away my dirty clothes. I also hang a lot. It helps that my DH is a minimalist.

I understand your dilemma: plus-size clothes are wider AND longer than smaller sizes, so folding and fitting in the suitcase is a problem.

First go to the Dollar store and buy several packages of white tissue paper. Make sure it's white; the colored tissue can run.

You fold using a modified "man's shirt" fold:

Lay the garment flat and face down. Put enough tissue paper to cover the back. Fold lengthwise (this is the tricky part) so the FRONT lays naturally with the collar showing. No weird folds, etc.

The outer edges should meet in the back with the tissue inside, maybe overlap depending on the size of the garment.

Then fold the sleeves back, and if they are long, put some more tissue in.

Then fold another piece of tissue lengthwise and put it on the back of the garment where the edges meet. Then fold it lengthwise over the tissue. You may have to do a little extra fold at the bottom, then fold over again, depending on the suitcase.

Crisscross or end-to-end the garments, so all the collar (thicker) ends are not stacked together.

Pants can be packed with the little extra fold at the top, and then another fold over to make them fit. Use tissue depending on the fabric.

I also like putting dresses and other long items in a garment bag, we always take a garment bag for his suite so I place my dresses and itmes in there as well.

I also use the rolling method. It seems to work for me.
