Can you wander around the property of the Atlantis for free? Will be in Nassau on April 17 and would really just like to see the property but it looks like you have to buy a pass to go anywhere other than the casino. Advice?

You won't be allowed on the property (or even in the lobby) without a day pass. Casino is public, but doesn't allow kids.

Your choices are to go to Atlantis and buy one, but you may not get in as the tickets are sold by availability first come, first serve or a shops excursion.

Same day passes are no longer available at Atlantis. Only hotel guests and those who purchase the the cruise ships are allowed on the property. This new policy was implemented March 1, 2015.

Casino and marina village are still open to the public.

Wow! Is that only for the spring break period or a permanent change? Does it apply to the Dig's passes too?

I just called Atlantis, and they said cruise-ship passengers can still get walk-up passes. You have to show your cruise ID/room key to prove you're a cruise passenger. For everyone else, the day passes are unavailable.

No, she said that same-day passes were no longer available. They are available, but you have to show a cruise ID to get them.

The Dig and beach passes are also available, and also require a cruise-ship ID to purchase.

Dig: $42 adult, $33 children (5-12), includes tour. No tour-free option available, but you can just not go on the tour.

Beach: seasonal; currently $75 adults, $35 children, including lunch. Includes Dig access but not Aquaventure

Aquaventure: seasonal; $135-150, all ages.

I called again and was quoted slightly different prices for everything. The reservation agent did confirm that walk-up passes are available, but you need to bring a cruise-ship ID.

Prices she quoted:

Aquaventure (seasonal): $125-$149 Adult, $80 children

Discover Atlantis (the Dig, predator lagoons): $39 Adult, $30 children

Beach access, including Discover Atlantis and lunch: $75 Adult, $45 children

Children are 4-12, under 4 are free with a paying guest.

I think I'd prepare for the higher of the prices I was quoted, and be pleasantly surprised if it ends up being lower.

I read that the water park doesn't open until 10. I will be on the Carnival Dream in September and the Carnival excursion starts at 8. I also read that you can skip the tour when you first get there. Is that advised?

Is anything besides the casino open before 10, like the Dig or the shops? I just want to be efficient with my time and would like to use those 2 hours wisely, since time is limited. I know some of that time will be for travel. We will be in Nassau from 7-5. This will be my first time at Atlantis.

Thanks for any info. :)

The slides don't open until 10, but I think the pools open at 9, so you could get in, get some lounge chairs, lockers, and scope out the area. If they won't let you near the slide area until 10 and you have time to kill, then sure, check out the Dig or walk the grounds.

But definitely try to get into the water park area as early as possible. The day we were there they shut the slides and pools at 2 because of thunder. Just as in Florida, afternoon thundershowers are not uncommon in fall. The Dig will remain open, so do it last.

Do they take US$$ or is it best to use credit card Discover, Master Card?

Pretty much everything at Atlantis takes credit cards; most locations inside Aquaventure don't take cash, in fact. Which credit cards they accept I don't know, other than Visa, which is what we used last time. I would assume MasterCard would also work, but Discover is a bit of an outlier in popularity; if you really want to use it I'd call first.

  • 4 months later...

I know this is an older thread but I wanted to provide an update based on our experience when we visited on 7/22/15.

We sailed on RCL's Enchantment which was in port from 7:00 a.m. until midnight. We spent most of the day at the Hilton on a day pass. We went back to the ship for dinner and then decided to go to Atlantis in the evening for some gambling.

We left our stateroom at about 7:30 p.m. and walked to the pier and took a taxi over to Atlantis. We had never been to Atlantis before so we decided to walk around first before heading into the casino. We happened upon The DIG aquariums. There were no signs posted regarding admission and there were no security personnel. Everyone seemed to be just walking through on their own. We spent about 30 min. looking at the various aquariums. After The DIG we spent some time walking around the grounds and the waterpark. We also spent some time admiring the beautiful yachts in the harbor. Eventually we did make it into the casino and left behind our "donation". We took a cab back to the pier and were back onboard by about 10:00.

I know that Atlantis requires admission to The DIG and waterpark during the day time but it seems that you can just wander around for free in the evening.

The DIGS is just the aquarium. The DIGS pass allows access to the main Aquarium (with viewing windows from several angles) and the predators lagoon (the viewing 'TUBES" you walk thru with water surrounding you). This PASS does not include access to any other part of the Atlantis property.

This pass runs around $45 pp for adults, 35 for kids.

The BEACH pass allows access to the Main Atlantis beach (and sometimes the Cove beach if the weather makes the water too rough). This pass also allows access to the DIGS, but does not include the waterpark, pools, or any other paid venue (dolphins, rock wall etc).

This runs around $80 pp. Water can be very rough on this beach, and Cove can be very crowded.

The Aquaventure pass includeds DIGS, Beach, pools, grounds and waterpark, but does NOT include Dolphins, rockwalls snorkeling etc). Passes run around $145pp and passes are only available to Cruisers with Sea passes.

Dolphin Encounters tout a "beach" available (for a fee) to those who want to watch their children with the dolphins. This BEACH does not have any access to the water. You are not even allowed to dip you feet in the water. It's a viewing beach only.

There is a public (free) beach next door to Atlantis with Public access. You won't be allowed on Atlantis property, and there are no amenities or restrooms, but you don't have to pay $80 for access the same beach, just up a few meters from Atlantis. Chairs and umbrellas are available to rent on the Free beach (Cabbage Beach).

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you all for wonderful tips and we just booked our first cruise trip and we are going to Nassau on August last week. I have talked with majesticstours people and they said Atlantis Beach day pass for $70 pp but my question to the experts and scubagirl that my kids want to go for Dolphin so can I buy the dolphin just for my kids and watch from outside? If yes, where and how much it costs? Thanks in advance.

Our interest is nice beach with family fun. If possible interact with Dolphin
