Is the Breeze REALLY That Bad?!?

The comedy club attendance is a joke unless you get there at least 30 minutes early. I was in the casino for the last comedy show and the line extended all the way into the casino area by about 40 feet. That is insane.

I've sailed on four different ships (Fascination, Triumph, Freedom and Magic) and that's been my experience EVERY SINGLE TIME. If you don't show up early, you don't get a seat period and the place is packed to standing room only capacity.

I haven't joined in any roll calls, but I may look into it for sure! Yeah true about taking people's opinions with a grain of salt.. Have you seen some of the things people complain about?!

Yes, and it seems that one of the main one is about the food. I don't know where people eat when they are home - but I have always thought the food on the cruise ships was very good - buffet, mdr, steakhouse etc.

I have to admit that I have never said one negative thing about Carnival. I've cruised with multiple different lines, but always come back to Carnival because it's just fun, well priced, and everything is usually very enjoyable.

That being said - I had my first "negative" on-line review (directly to John Heald & via the cruise review Carnival sends out through emails upon return).

The American Table menu was a big disappointment for me on my last 5 day cruise. It wasn't on the Breeze, but at least I have my expectations set for what I will experience on Carnival from on out.

I've always thought of MDR as a nicer quality meal and I enjoy dressing up and taking an hour-hour and half to enjoy dinner. The service was GREAT!!! Everything else was up to par, but the food selection and actual food quality served was lacking on the American Table menu selection.

Also, I found out that 90% of the food I had on this menu was available on the Lido deck buffet. Will I let it deter me from booking through Carnival again? Probably not - but it very disappointing. I hope that it does change.

On the positive side - the rest of the food (specialty restaurants and Lido buffet) are GREAT! The American Menu option is a great option for the LIDO deck buffet, but I think that it doesn't belong in the MDR. To me, the dining room menu was always something above buffet quality food.

But I am booked on the Breeze when it moves to TX, and I am very much looking forward to it. Your cruise is what you make it. I had a BLAST last week on Freedom, and I know it's going to be even better on the Breeze now that I know what to expect for the dinner situation. I was just very unprepared for the let down this cruise...and I hope that Carnival Cruise Lines will listen to it's VIFP members who have been cruising with them for years.

ENJOY YOUR CRUISE and don't let negative reviews sway you. Just go in and make it GREAT like I did. Every vacation will have one or two little down-sides to it :):D

I watch the review but I don't pay any mind to the bad reviews the things most complain about. There are some people no matter what you do you will never please them. They are miserable and want others around them the same. My vacations are what I make of them so I would say go enjoy your cruise and don't pay no mind the the cranky out there. Go in with a great attitude and enjoy yourselves have a great time

If it's the cruise critic member reviews, don't worry. They always seem to have a lot of negatives. On each of my cruises in past few years the reviews leading up to the cruises weren't that good. I read the ones for my same cruise after I got back and you would have thought they had been on the Titanic. I had an excellent time and so will you!

But we will have the VISTA!!

I still personally think the should have just slid the Breeze up the coast into Port Canaveral.

I wanted to SCREAM when they sent the Dream out to New Orleans and didn't replace her.

Yes...they're sending the Magic up to P.C., BUT her itineraries really SUCK IMO.

Breeze is a fantastic ship! Loved her and will sail again for the ship! However, we had the same exact menus 3 months prior on the Imagination, and found the food nowhere as good on the Breeze. Same menu, but more errors on the Breeze- with cold food, forgotten sides, sloppy presentation, empty water glasses... MDR Wasn't great but it won't keep us from sailing her again.

I agree the loss of the Breeze is bad and wish the Magic would do the 8/7/6 day options the Breeze did, but don't see much difference in ports the two visited.

No southern Caribbean routes generally. Vista gets those it seems.

Why do you see suckage in ports? Or Itenaries?

Wish Carnival would spend an overnight in San Juan.

For example our wonderful Breeze 8 day cruise included 3 sea days and the following ports,

San Juan - love SJ always have, always will.

Antigua - Frankly a so-so port, once was enough.

St. Thomas - Ok better than Nassau.

Nassau - Enough said.

Our up coming Magic 7 day has two sea days and the following ports

San Juan - ditto above

St. Thomas - ditto above

Grand Turk - never been but not sure what we will do there. Don't need beaches, have those.

Amber Cove- Never been, not sure what we will do, probably go see Puerto Plata and the fort.

Since two ports were a wash on breeze it remains to be seen what grand turk and amber cove offer better.

Breeze is a great ship. If I had any apprehension about booking certain ships, it would be more with Sunshine.

I agree 100%....I have been on the Breeze twice before and will go again in July. So far out of all the ships, it is my favorite. Just got off the Sunshine and probably wouldn't book again unless it was my only option for certain Ports of Call.

As you can see from my signature, we cruised on the Breeze in 2013. WE loved the ship, however there was one big negative. We were in an Ocean Suite, 7377. The cabin creaked horribly when we were at sea. So much so that we recorded the sound and went to the Purser's office to try and get some resolution. We had numerous maintenance people in the cabin and they said that it was where the ship was welded together (or something like that) and there was nothing that could be done.

We asked to move to another cabin but there was not one available. They agreed the noise was terrible. I slept with a pillow over my head each night AND my normal ear plugs and even that did not help. Long story short, Carnival refunded us about $1000 to compensate. While that definitely helped, I would have rather NOT gotten the money and had a quiet cabin. We were very appreciative of this. They also gave us a 25% off coupon to be used on another cruise but it expired before we could use it. My mother was very ill and we were not able to cruise. This next cruise will be our first one since she passed away. I have nothing but good things to say about Carnival.

With all that said, we just booked May 8 from Galveston on the Breeze. I made sure to NOT book near that cabin so we are going towards the front this time. All I can say is hopefully they have remedied the situation since then.

Hi All! We've been reading over the most recent review for the Breeze and I'm getting a littler nervous . The reviews have gone way downhill since we first reserved our spot back in April. We are currently booked on the Breeze on Feb 27, 8 Day Eastern Caribbean to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, and DR. BUT, the new reviews are going downhill.

We have just found an alternative 8 Day on the Sunshine that goes to St. Maarten, Grand Turk, San Juan, and St. Kitts.

Anyone been on both boats and have an opinion, or love one set of ports better than the other? We sailed the Liberty in February 2015 and loved it, so I'm fearful of being disappointed this go-round. Thanks!!

Did you stick with the Breeze or change to the Sunshine? I tend to take reviews (especially negative ones) with a grain of salt......and a shot of tequila. Way I figure, people are way less likely to dramatize a positive review. As in, they aren't going to "lie" and say it was good when it was terrible. Whereas, people will often overdramatize a negative experience when really maybe they are just the type of people who complain about everything no matter how great! Hope you had a wonderful time on whichever ship you chose!

Did the Breeze over Xmas. It was a beautiful ship. Can't think of a single complaint we have. If we stick with Carnival we will definitely sail on her again.
