Clothes for an early FEB. Mexican Riviera

We are leaving out of San Francisco in Jan 29th, to Catalina, Mexican Riviera and San Diego. We have only traveled the Carribean and needed a light jacket at the most. How do we need to pack for this one? How cold is it going to be? How doggone cold is the Pacific water once you get into Mexico? Is it too cold to swim probably? Will it be warm enough on deck to swim? THanks.

I just cruised to the Mexican Riviera in early December. The weather on board the ship was chilly/windy in the mornings and evenings but fairly warm during the day. I would bring a light jacket or sweater for mornings/evenings as well as pants or capri pants. We did not swim on the ship on the way down as it was windy but we did lay on the lounge chairs in the sun. The first day sailing back up to LA from Mexico was HOT. We swam and suntanned on deck. Mexico was sunny and hot. The water was cool at first then OK, like any other ocean experience I have had. Shorts, bathing suits, hats and sunscreen were a must have. Hope that helps!

Expect cool sailing until you are midway down the Baja peninsula and getting close to Cabo. After that it is smooth and warm at the various Mexican Riviera ports. Ocean swimming is a little cool north of Mazatlan.

Take a sweatshirt and light jacket for those days when you are north of Cabo.

Enjoy!
