Tourist SIM card for Middle East

In the arrivals halls of AUH / DXB airports there are counters of phone companies such as Du or Etisalat. They have pre-paid SIM cards for sale. Some paperwork involved and the people who work there may not speak English too well.

The SIM will of course work in the UAE. Reception and network access in the other countries you mention may be a different story and will definitely incur an international roaming cost.

I have accounts with a carrier in Oman and the sim works globally, but that is with a "proper" account.

Be aware that most things such as Skype/whattsapp/face time etc CAN be blocked in the different countries! The local GESTAPOs like to be able to monitor any and all phone conversations and internet traffic.

Theoretically, the sales staff at the airport should be able to explain...
