pbrady Posted September 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2014 We will be in Belize for a day and I have searched & searched but these seem to be the major choices. We don't really want to do the ruins either because we are doing that on 2 other stops. Any other suggestions? If not, is it worth getting a taxi at the pier & arranging a couple hour tour of the island? Better yet, do you have any recommendation of a guise for a 2 to 4 hour tour? There will be 4 of us so any range of price would help. We were there only a couple times before but it has been years. Thanks for any suggestions. Middleager Posted September 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2014 We went with cavetubing.bz, for a combo zipline & cavetubing tour. It was great. Some others only went for cavetubing. All the catubing outfits go to the same place. The tubes you get from this outfit, has bottoms that you sit on, while others may have hollow bottom and your butt can hit/scrape rocks. They also feed you lunch, before driving back to the ship.

The OP said NOT cavetubing. What we are doing here this time around....are you ready for this....swimming with the sharks and rays!!! I know, probably not what you are looking to do, but hey, it's not something you mentioned right? :D
cath32 Posted September 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2014 You might consider an excursion to the Belize zoo. It is a bit of a drive so you get to see some of the city as well as the country side. The tour guide also gave an interesting talk about Belize during the drive. The animals are all native to Belize and the zoo does not feel very zoo-like. More like walking through the jungle!
OCruisers Posted September 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2014 You could take a Scenic River Cruise or go, as suggested cath32, to the Zoo. It you are interested in Mayan Ruins there are three to see on excursions in Belize -- Altum Ha, Lamanai, or Xunantunch. :) LuLu

wantocruisemore Posted September 26, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2014 I know you mentioned you did not want to do the ruins in Belize because you are doing ruins at two other stops. You might want to rethink this if ruins are.important. The ruins in Belize are much better than other places.
FF Woman Posted October 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2014 We did an air boat ride that was a lot of fun when we were there last February. It was an NCL excursion and so we felt very safe. It is a short bus ride to get to the river so you get to see some of the countryside. We saw a lot of different birds, a crocodile and lots of different types of trees and flowers. The guide was fun and informative. I'd recommend it as an alternative to the tubing, etc.
