NOLA Port walkable from Hampton Inn Convention Center?

hi - found a great rate for this, was wondering if I can walk to the port from here? I've read if you're staying at the Hilton Riverside, you can walk through that to get to the Port (Carnival Dream). Would I just be able to cut through there from the Hampton? thx!

The problem with walking from hotels on Convention Center Blvd to the cruise port is that pesky Convention Center that is the way. If you could cut through there (you cannot count on that as an option) then it might not be bad. Otherwise, you have to walk all the way around as shown here:

Also, if you take a cab it is a flat rate of $7 per person because of some taxi/port drop-off rules in place. So it basically cost you $15 for a cab.

However, if you get a really good deal on the hotel ... :)
