EB Cruiser - we typically snorkel from shore when we can also but I don't think you would be able to do it here. The coast is very rocky and mountainous. I don't think there would be a way to get down to the water in this location from what I can remember. I really think its something you would just be able to reach by boat. Maybe someone else will remember otherwise.

We've snorkeled by the statues at Moliniere twice. I'd say the snorkeling there was fun and interesting but not the best I've seen as far as general snorkeling conditions.

We did it as part of a great excursion that I really enjoyed. The excursion was the Shadowfax Champagne and Lobster Cruise. It is a full day day-sail on a good sized catamaran. We booked through the cruise line but they don't always contract with the cruise lines.

The excursion starts out with a short sail to Moliniere point for the snorkeling tour of the statue area. There is about 1/2 hour of snorkeling there. Then they sail around the south side of the island, a very nice sail that is around 30 to 45 minutes, maybe a little longer, to a small island close to shore. They anchor there and there is a nice small beach for swimming and a lunch area with picnic tables and a grill already set up and they grill a lunch of fantastic fresh Caribbean lobster. There is a little time to relax and swim after lunch before the trip back.

I have some photos here and here.

I'd highly recommend this day sail excursion as a great full day activity that includes snorkeling at the Sculpture area.

We booked an excursion to the sculpture park through Princess, which included a stop at Grand Anse Beach.

That day, the water was a little choppy at the sculputes, so you really couldn't see anything from the surface - they are about 20-25 feet down.

It was interesting to see the sculptures, but other than that, the snorkeling was just average.

Here are some pics (halfway down the album)

Default dragon bay

This may sound really strange but I'd actually prefer NOT to snorkel the sculptures - some of the pics look great, but we're mostly interested in fish. Instead I'd like to snorkel dragon bay and/or maybe flamingo bay - we've been to flamingo bay before, but I can't recall how far off shore we were as we took a ships excursion this time.

We prefer not to do ships excursions as there are always too many people and dive boats tend to be most interested in divers with little attention to snorkelers. But I don't think we could swing the cost of chartering our own boat (there's only 2 of us).

Is it possible to take a taxi to Dragon Bay and just snorkel off the shore?

To be honest, we never really saw a lot of fish while snorkeling in Grenada (compared to other places). Mainly a lot of juvenile fish.

We thought the sculpture garden was really lame when we were there...I agree w/a previous poster - we just want to see the sea life, no interest in the sculptures. (And, unfortunately, there weren't many fish, either.)
