Falmouth or Ocho Rios Port Jamaica

Hi all doing some research on a Western Caribbean cruise, first timer to this region - looking at two different cruises very similar intinaries, which port would be better out of these two ?

Any recommendations or advice would be great.

Both of these Jamaican ports are best visited by taking a tour or a guide. They are not the kind of ports that you can easily walk out the gate and visit on your own. I would look at what type of excursion you want to do and then decided on the port.

If you chose Ocho Rios, plan on visiting the falls but take a private tour and go really early before the big buses get there.

Is it because of safety reasons you can't visit on your own or because they are too faraway from port to visit in the time you have in port ?

We are travelling quite a distance so would just like to see as much as we can highlights, a bit of history, local fare, food and just a bit of shopping if possible :)
