Please say "Hi" to Stamfordian( he will have a large presence at trivia) and his lovely readheaded sassy wife. If you meet her at the bar she will introduce herslef as a "Barstool B****! " Please tell her her "low and transatlantic" friend say to have a glass of champagne for her.Have a wonderful cruise and stay safe!

MV SEABOURN QUEST

OK guys, I'll never measure up to Seabourn Traveller (which I know I spelled incorrectly) but I'll develop my own style eventually!

April 03rd 2012: 0800hrs Arrival in Muscat Oman

A short Hi from Richard and Susie Q from Bris-vegas! (Downunder)

It is delightful to have met Janey and Phyllis on the first day of the cruise in Dubai!

The weather is extremely hot! Over 90 degrees!

We left for a tour to a local Mosque at 0815hrs by minibus; very comfortable with great air-conditioning; we had an excellent guide and learned a lot about the country.

This Mosque was the largest one in Oman; one of 14,000 existing Mosques!

The Mosque can accommodate 20,000 worshippers in the courtyard and 6,000 men are able to pray together; there is only room for 750 women to pray.

The men's dress code does not apply; however; women must dress according to their custom; men and women are not encouraged to pray together as the men may be distracted by their women!

Mum and I were required to wear scarves that we brought along and we got in without a hitch.

After the Mosque the tour went to the Souk where I fed all the stray cats. We then spent an hour shopping and haggled and we got some great deals and then back to the ship for the drink of the day which was an ice cold beer!

Off in a hurry to the Shangri La Hotel with almost the entire ships passengers for the complimentary excursion. It was really quite hot so we only stayed for 15 minutes; so we had to find our own way back. We came back to enjoy chatting with friends and free time.

Now..here is tonight's menu..

First Course:

Gingered shrimp roll

Seared Veal Carpaccio

Yellow Fin Tuna Wellington with Porcini Mushrooms

Wild Mushroom Minestrone

Cream-less Celery Root soup

Tossed Tomato and Grilled Bread

Three Pea Salad

Main Course:

Pan Seared Halibut

Crisp Soft Shell Crab

Duo of aged Sirloin and Braised Short Rib of Beef

Oven Roasted Double Cut Pork Chop

Vegetarian - Soft Potato Gnocchi

Signing off for now

We were so excited about having the Owner's Suite, but we didn't like it nearly as much as on the Legend. So after much discussion with the Hotel Manager, we got our choice of Penthouse Suites, which we found we really liked. We picked 922, as it is the closet Suite to the upstairs sky bar. Have only had a single Bloody Mary and were wishing Kit, Dan, Phil and Miss Martha were with us!!!

Now that we've got the hang of this we thought we should include the enrichment lecture at 1845hrs: it's about "politics and Society on the Arabian Peninsula" by Dr Glenn E Robinson who is an expert on Middle East affairs.

The 2200hrs Show time tonight is Dance in the Grand Salon on Deck 6.

Bye again see you tomorrow!

Now that would get you both into trouble!!! LOL!

Wishing you both a wonderful cruise and thank you so much for taking the time to share your travels with us, especially enjoyed from a very cold, snowy Scotland brrrrr!

PS hope your suite is the closest to the Sky Bar and not the closet!!! ;):D

Dear Dr. Janey, could you please explain why you didn't like the owner suite. Which one did you see?

The layout was not comfortable- mom didn't like having tom close bar door to open refrigerator. Also coffee table and sofa not comfortable. I guess the 700 suites are better. yes we did get big refund, so booked all the great extravagant excursions.

Kit, we've been skyping, but you need to add me, because I cant add you from ship.

Told the captain hi from Dan and Kit- he smiled with a twinkle.

Also, 4 armed guards (we call them the Rambo Squad) boarded in Oman to patrol for pirates.

Will say hi to Francesca for you.

An Ode to My 'Merican Ma and Grandma.

Did you at the casino play?

Pay pay pay!

Did you say?

Rained last night gray,

The sprinklers didn't spray

and I did all the chores today

then by the pool I lay

watched the clouds float away.

wrote about how left Africa they

by the Arabian peninsula that way

Mesopotamia through the Golbi desert astray

to Korea before the Silky way.

Well, anyway,

I hope the two of you have a nice day

keeping the pirates away

with your hair spray

oh and please pass the buffet

it's probably wise to opt for the filet

Ok, I gotta go back to my essay.

No, really, I gotta stop this word play

Stop anyday but better now today

oh by the way

I'm going to meet Amanda's parents this Friday

What should I say?

"Hi, I like your daughter all the way?"

The house will be okay.

Allan or Bill will come to save the day

Or at least feed Dottie once a day.

seriously i gotta stop this syntactic array.

stop stop stop......

Have fun today!

From six thousands miles away,

Your faithful son,

keeping the burglar's away.

:)

Have not been gambling much but bet $10 at 3 card poker and got a straight flush!!!! $500 up so far.

Went to tea to search for the infamous grandma cake, which they had.

Planned a big dinner for the 7th- prime rib and goat cheese souffle. Can't wait.
