taxi from penn station

Two years ago my DD and I did a taxi to the pier. We chose, at the suggestion of the driver to be let out across the street from the pier and pulled our luggage across 12th Avenue and we paid $7.00. It should only take 10-15 minutes DEPENDING ON TRAFFIC! Sometimes not even that long. If you chose to have the driver take you to the upper-level to embark there it will definitely cost more because they have to go further up 12th Avenue for the ramp to the 2nd level of the pier and may have to wait in line to let you out. Since we were going on a CTN it was a no-brainer since we each had one bag. When you cross the street there is an elevator to take you up to the second level, should you chose to do it this way.
