Where to meet at the Vancouver airport?

DH and I will fly into Vancouver and I assume go through Customs with our baggage before being able to leave the airport. Our friends are driving up to Vancouver the day before, so will be able to pick us up from the airport in their car. The questions is - where can we meet them? Usually I tell folks to pick us up at baggage claim, but is this the best choice with us having to do Customs?

Hi there! As soon as you walk outside of the secured area which is baggage claim and immigration there is an area that your friends could be meet you. Unless you are doing some version of a connecting flight everyone must walk out of these doors...there is a barrier along the side and you will be clearly visible to your friends. There is also a little british pub right there and a big native art statue. Either one of those would be excellent landmarks. Enjoy your stay in Vancouver. wendy

Thanks for the reply. Someone else has mentioned "totem Poles" as being a visible meeting area. Sounds like the area you described. Thanks for the confirmation!!
