France PortsCannes, Corsica, Marseille, Nice, Sete, St. Tropez, Toulon, Villefranche. Includes Monaco (Monte Carlo)
I am sure you could find such in Monaco, but if you are in Eze, Villefranche or any other neighboring ville, you will find Bakeries everywhere and at better prices than Monaco. Shops like these abound in France anytime you are in the heart of the town.
There's no French person ... and no Monegasque ... who will "survive" without their daily baguette. Bakeries are found in each quarter of town and are open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays only in the morning.
There's a "Grand Casino" supermarket in port, which sells baguette (and no bad ones :-), which is closest to the ships. Others are at the Condamine market and in the tiny alleyways of the La Condamine quarters close to the port.
The next easy-to-reach is on the lower level of the Metropole Palace shopping mall outside, close to the Casino Square.
Of course, locals might walk or drive a little further for their prefered baguette, however, there's no need to venture to neighbouring villages. Prices for baguettes are the same, just varying because of the size of the bread or the special ingredients or flour used.
We will be in Monaco for a day in June from a cruise. My 15 year old son is determined to find a few baguettes. Any suggestions for the name or location of a good bakery?
Agree with moyaroo that there are lots of great bakery options all over. Here's my added take and suggestion for a good "balancing suggestion" for saving your dining budget. Grab your lunch at one of the many bakeries/boulangerie/patisserie shops. Most are very cute and wonderful. Great breads! Get a sandwich, pastry, drink. Maybe some cheese. Other nice fresh things. Maybe spend only $4-5-6 a person. Eat in a park area or bench. Like a little picnic! Saves money and time during a busy day. Allows a little more budget for dinner in the evening. Super love those fresh French baguettes with ham, cheese, etc.
Don't forget crepes. There are creperies that will serve wonderful crepes filled with anything from ham, cheese and eggs to chocolate. Last time we were in Europe in 2007 we took pictures of everything we ate from London to France to Germany to Belgium. We had some fantastic meals.
