Hi, my daughter and I are going on the royal in september and she has never cruised before. However, as I have, I would like to know how this refer a friend works. Can we get the obc for this cruise or does it only apply for subsequent cruises. Thanks Snag

FAQs: Refer-A-Friend Program


Question: Who is eligible to make a referral?
Answer: A Princess past guest who is at least 21 years old and a resident of the U.S. or Canada and is not a travel industry partner, an immediate family member of a travel industry partner or employee of Princess and/or the Carnival Corporation.
Question: Who can be referred?
Answer: Friends and relatives of the Princess past guest who are at least 21 years old and residents of the U.S. or Canada. They may not have sailed previously on Princess, have an existing booking or completed the referral process in the past, and may not be a travel industry partner or employee of Princess Cruises and/or the Carnival Corporation.
Question: What is the reward for referring my friends and relatives to Princess?
Answer: A $25 onboard spending credit for each successful referral for both you and the referred guest.
Question: How many friends/relatives may be referred?
Answer: There is no limit to the number of friends/relatives that may be referred, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.
Question: Can I refer my friends and relatives by phone?
Answer: No. All referrals must be submitted online at princess.com/refer25.
Question: How many referral rewards may I use at one time?
Answer: A maximum of five onboard credits per guests, up to two guests per stateroom, may be used on one cruise. That's a maximum of $125 per guest/$250 per stateroom.
Question: When can my onboard spending credit be used?
Answer: After your successfully referred guest has completed their first cruise your onboard spending credit will become available for use. If you are sailing together on the same cruise, you can both use your onboard spending credits at that time.
Question: How will the onboard spending credit be applied to my booking?
Answer: Your Referral Rewards are attached to your Princess Cruises Captain's Circle Member number. When making your booking be sure to provide your Member number, and up to five available Referral Rewards onboard spending credits will be applied to your shipboard account automatically.
Question: If the guest sharing my stateroom also has Referral Rewards onboard spending credits, can they be applied to the booking as well as mine?
Answer: Yes. Up to five Referral Rewards onboard spending credits, per guest, may be applied ( up to 10 per stateroom).
Question: If I travel alone in a stateroom, can I get the stateroom maximum of 10 Referral Rewards onboard spending credits?
Answer: No. Up to five Referral Rewards onboard spending credits, per guest, may be applied.
Question: If I travel as the third or fourth guest in a stateroom, can I still use my Referral Rewards onboard spending credits?
Answer: Referral Rewards can only be applied to two guests per booking. If guests one and two each have Referral Rewards applied, then guests three and four will not be able to have their Referral Rewards applied to that booking. If only one or neither first nor second guests have Referral Rewards applied to the booking the third or fourth guest may have their Referral Rewards applied.
Question: What if I don’t use all of my referral credits during my cruise? Can I get it refunded to me or cash it in for casino chips?
Answer: No, Onboard spending credits are not redeemable for cash and may only be used for onboard purchases that are applied to your shipboard account including, but not limited to, shore excursions, bar charges, specialty dining and hotel gratuities. Onboard spending credits of any type may not be redeemed in the casino.
Question: Can the $25 referral reward be applied as a cruise discount?
Answer: No. As Referral Rewards created after 8/20/15 are accrued and applied as a $25 onboard spending credit and cannot be applied as a cruise discount.
Question: I have rewards under the original program. Will those rewards be converted to onboard spending credits?
Answer: No. Referral Rewards accrued prior to 8/20/15 will be applied as a discount to the cruise fare and subject to the 5 per booking rule. However, they will be combinable with rewards accrued after 8/20/15.
Question: What are my friends/relatives required to do in order to accept the referral?
Answer: In order to activate the Referral, they will need to click on the "Activate My Referral" button within the email they receive from you and successfully complete the activation form.
Question: What if I have a booking in place and then the guest I refer completes their first cruise? Does my newly activated reward automatically apply to my booking?
Answer: No, you must contact Customer Service to have your activated reward applied to your booking. This may only be done if your sailing date is after the sailing date of your referral.
Question: How do my friends/relatives get their onboard spending credits applied to their stateroom?
Answer: Upon successfully referring your friend/relative they will be assigned a Member number. At time of booking they will need to provide their Member number and their Referral Rewards onboard spending credit will be applied automatically. (This Member number will become their Princess Cruises Captain's Circle Member number once they complete their first cruise.)
Question: What if the same guest is referred twice?
Answer: A referral may only be made once per new guest as is on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone referring a new guest who has already completed the referral process will receive a message stating the referral is invalid.
Question: If I refer four of my friends who are all traveling in the same stateroom on their first cruise, can they all have their Referral Rewards onboard spending credits applied to that stateroom?
Answer: No. The Referral Rewards onboard spending credit can be applied for up to two guests per stateroom. In this scenario, only two guests can redeem their rewards and therefore, activate two of your rewards.
Question: How can I track my Referral Rewards onboard spending credits?
Answer: You can access your Circle Savings Account by logging in at princess.com and navigating to the Princess Cruises Captain's Circle section. Your Referral Rewards onboard spending credits will display with a description of those you have referred, the date the referral was made, the date the reward expires, as well as the status and amount of the credit. You can also view a summary of all of your referrals by clicking on "Referral Summary" in the Princess Cruises Captain's Circle section of princess.com.
Question: What does "Pending Booking", "Pending Sailing" and "Active" mean in my Circle Savings Account?
Answer: "Pending Booking" displays until your referral makes a booking with Princess. "Pending Sailing" displays until your referral sails with Princess. "Active" displays once the reward is available for your use.
Question: Do Referral Rewards expire?
Answer: Yes. The referral must sail within 24 months from the date of activation. The past guest who made the referral has 24 months to sail after their referral sails. If the referral does not sail within the 24-month time period, both Referral Rewards will be invalid and will no longer appear in your Circle Savings account.

Question: What if I have questions about the Refer-A-Friend Program that have not been answered?
Answer: You may call your travel industry partner or 1-800-774-6237 to speak to a Princess Cruises representative.

If you are both traveling on the same cruise, you can both use your referral credits on that cruise. Just make sure to make the referral online before you book.
Oh ...and yes, you can even get the credits if you are traveling in the same cabin. It is an awesome little perk that Princess throws out there.

My wife referred her employer a couple of years ago but totally failed to do the "refer a friend" thing. He booked 4 or 5 cabins. They both lost out on the OBC. D'Oh!

We sailed out of Sydney in March and received the refer a friend obc for our new to Princess Aussie friends - call Princess or fill the form out online.
