Chaak Tun Cenote

Does anyone know of any private vendor excursions to the Chaak Tun cenote? RCI offers this excursions at $85pp, and was hoping the cost would go down with a reputable private vendor. Haven't had much luck finding one yet, though. Starting to wonder if the cruise lines have this activity pretty locked down. Thoughts?

You could arrange this on your own. Chaak Tun is located on the mainland near Play del Carmen, so to get there from Cozumel involves a ferry ride of about 45 or so minutes. The r/t fare is about $18-20 and there are two ferry companies - you might be better off buying one-way tickets so that you can use the other ferry company to get back to the ship on time. from the ferry terminal you can grab a taxi to Chaak Tun.

Tours to the mainland are not popular from Coz - too much to do on the island and the often rough ferry ride puts off most tourists. If you were going even farther to the ruins I would advise you to only do this through the cruise line so that you are protected in case of transport issues -- you do not want to miss the ship!
