Bringing coffee into US

We are going to Columbia and Costa Rica in a few weeks. I'm most excited about coffee from these areas.

I tried to look on the US customs site, but it's honestly so confusing. The threads I found in the forums seems to be a few years old as well.

I just want to make sure I'll be able to bring coffee back into US and what those limits may be.

We bought coffee in the ports several times & declared them on the customs/immigration form when entering Florida

It was no problem

we were not leaving them in the USA & the Canadian Officials did not have a problem either

I have brought back coffee from the Caribbean and Central America at least 15 times, and have never had an issue. Normal for me is to bring back 5-10 half kilo bags. I know nothing about Canada, but bringing back coffee in the USA is a non issue. FYI, I strongly prefer Costa Rica to almost all others. There is also a Panama coffee plantation that is on the Costa Rica boarder that has great coffee. I also take a french press with me so I can drink the coffee on the ship.

You can bring coffee back to the USA and no limits other than in counts towards the $800.00 per person that USA citizens can bring back without paying any duty.

Thanks, everyone! Will be visiting Cartagena and Costa Rica on our up-coming cruise, so I will definitely be bringing back coffee!

There are a few better brands, but not sold in tourist areas, so for everyday quality, I like 1820 brand. It's sold in gift shops for twice the grocery store price, but on a tour it might be hard to shop at a grocery store (super)
