Default Civitavecchia port free shuttle bus start time

Does anyone know what time the free port shuttle buses start in the Civitavecchia port?

If there are ships in port, the shuttles run. So, as early as 4:30 am on.

They will start boarding as soon as your ship allows passengers off. You will have to wait until the bus is mostly full. In our case that took about 10 minutes.

Do you drop off your checked bags before boarding and keep your carryons? Or do you have to bring everything?

When you arrive at the ship? That is standard procedure for every ship and port I have been in, which is a few.

I am asking if you bring your checked bags on the shuttle or if they are left with porters at the entrance.
I think in Bayonne, NJ, you do not bring checked bags on the port shuttle and hope it is the same here.

You bring your bags on the shuttle. You don't meet the porters until you arrive at your terminal.

On the shuttle it's hit or miss who loads the bags onto the bus - sometimes the driver is helping/other times not. Something that happened on our December cruise which I've never heard/seen before was someone actually pulled suitcases out of the bus storage area, and placed theirs in its place. The bus drove off with the bags sitting on the curb! I really don't think this happens very often, but I sure kept an eye on our bags (both ways) after witnessing this action.
