The woman had a record before this occurred and should never have been allowed to work in a job where she would have access to personal information. Apparently Royal Caribbean did not screen its employees very carefully.

Default Work with Local specialists

I have been a travel agent 23 years, specializing in cruising and unique destinations. To hear that one of 'our' industry agents violated the customer trust, is totally unexceptable. To be honest, the lady involved with the thefts was an ordertaker, not a true travel planner. Many of us believe that the 'agent' on the other end of the phone is giving us their best service, at least we hope so. Is booking with an 800# the best for you, maybe not! There is something about making a good connection with our doctor, dentist, banker, teachers and other professionals. Why not a local travel professional? We spend thousands of $$$ on vacations, and yet for many the easy route is the 800# direct to the cruise line or a cruise discounter. A good travel consultant will find you the 'perfect' trip to meet your needs and budget and have the resources to research more specials. I have always felt that I should treat my clients across the desk, like I would like to be treated. Find yourself a knowledgeable LOCAL agent, get references and above all look them in the eye and shake hands!
Good Luck and safe travels,
Boobuns

I think it is bad luck for the cruise staff because by the employee the impression will be down. If these kind of person is working in our company then ultimately it is big loss for us only. Thats why we should be alert.

words of wisdom....find a good travel agent and never trust a cruise agent who you have contacted via an 800 number. Travel agents will do the work and research for you and most often find the specials and deals for you.

I don't agree. Except for my first major traveling experience (1979), I have always done everything on my own, and without any regrets. Do it yourself, and you remain in complete control (which is not the case if you let an agent get involved).

My travel agent gets far better pricing that I can get from the line directly. We got an $800 OBC for an upcoming cruise and the line was offering $250. Big score right there.
