Not usually. Cruise lines have a menu cycle that is the same across their fleets. The closest you might get is a Greek salad. EM

Nope. We were slightly disappointed. Same with Scandinavian cruise.

Some cruise lines will sprinkle in some related dishes. Holland America definitely does. The vast majority of the menu will be non-local related items.

Yes, this was our experience also on our recent Med cruise on RCI's Serenade. They followed the set RCI menu. We did have some great local food in the ports however!

If you want Greek food, have lunch on shore.

HAL will offer one or 2 dishes a day for lunch and dinner that pertains to the area you are cruising in. So if you select HAL you can expect Greek/Med food.

But your are better off eating ashore to get the real taste of the food.

Find a Greek line and you will have a better chance of having Greek food. There used to be several but I don't know of any new Greek lines sailing in the Med.

Yes, the cruise lines will stick to their menus especially in the Main Dining Room.

For the buffets, they may do some themed nights.

E.g. on the NCL Jade, we had some grilled theme night in the buffet.

Also, on deck, there was a poolside party and the Cruise Director and Hotel Director were out serving us paella. Pretty neat.

No more or less than normal.

What ever they serve will be great and no dishes to wash after.

oooh yes in my cruise experience the food was delicious and we had a lot of Greek specialties!!!

As others have said, go get Lunch on shore. Better yet, join your Roll Call and see what some others have gotten lined up with some Private (not ship operated) excursions. We did 9 of those with small groups on our last Eastern Med Cruise with 9 folks riding around the towns, choosing where to have lunch and how long. Then a leisurely drive back to the ship with scenic stops and maybe a bar stop. The tour operator is the designated driver.

We almost emptied out the supply of Ouzo at one of the rug merchants in Istanbul. All we had to do was find our way back to the Mercedes Bus...

I was there with Intersailclub, not a large cruise ship and so the chef was happy to accommodate some special request but certainly lunch on shore is a must!!;)
