Cairnmom Posted July 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2014 Looking at our options while in La Romana, what is the best excursion to Saona Island?
Isa65 Posted July 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2014 We went with Pro Excursions and it was the best excursion ever. Michael, the host is incredible and the trip was wonderful. Pro Excursion takes you to a different part of the island than Carnival or Seavis, so it's much less crowded. Lunch is included (and delicious). If you google Pro Excursions Bayahibe you will find their website.
blue_water Posted July 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) Actually both Seavis and Pro E are excellent, the choice just depends on whether you want the small motorboats, the small motorized cat, or the luxury cat the Quetzal. We've taken the Seavis motorboats and that was a fun and exciting day. We've also taken the Pro E luxury cat to Catalina Island and that was definitely our favorite excursion. The Quetzal also goes to Saona Island. There are 2 different beaches on Saona and both are nice, but we really enjoyed our day at Catalina Island followed by a tour of the River Chavon and the coast line of Casa De Campo on the Quetzal. Another factor is restrooms - some ppl like having heads available, and the Quetzal has 4 heads while the motorboats have none of course. There are several threads with more detailed descriptions of the various Saona excursions or you can compare these at the Seavis tours and pro e sites.
