Taste of Tuscany Lunch on the Freedom

 Share

Recommended Posts

Looking at a set of Compasses from the Oct 13th, 2013 Freedom cruise I see there is something called Taste of Tuscany in Portofino's during lunch one day. The only description is a "Pasta Cooking Demonstration and Lunch" ($15pp).

Can anyone give me insight on what to expect?

I also thought I read it included some type of galley tour, can someone confirm that? I have done a galley tour but even just a tour of Portofino's galley would be interesting and I might be more tempted if it was indeed a part of it.

If you did it was it worth the $15?

Thanks :)

We did the galley tour and Taste of Tuscany in 2011 on Serenade. Both were wonderful, the kitchen tour was of the main kitchen then lunch in Chops, absolutely amazing. The next week we did Taste of Tuscany, it was a pasta making demo, we came home and bought a pasta machine! Again a great lunch, Chops was better but I'd do both again.

I didn't do it, Dawna, but friends did, and raved about it. Definitely worth $15.

Thanks Carol! Did they say if it came with a galley tour? My Dad is a chef wanna be and loves the galley tours.

For us the Galley tour was with the Chops lunch. I must say we were very impressed at how clean the galley was, all stainless and it was just gleaming, wish my stainless looked that shiny!

Our lunch on Freedom did not include a galley tour. It was a 3 course lunch with a pasta making demonstration from the chef. For an extra charge, there was a wine tasting to go along with lunch. We enjoyed it.

The lunch they offered in Giovanni's Table on both Jewel and Radiance included a Galley Tour. If for some reason this isn't included with the lunch on Freedom, I suggest you ask your Head Waiter to see if your Dad can be included in the Galley Tour they offer to D+/Pinnacle members which is usually on the last sea day.

We did this on Freedom in Sept. My DH said it was one of the highlights of the cruise. It did include a galley tour. We toured 2 decks. It also included lunch at Portofino's. We had a choice of I think 3 app., 4 lunch entree's and tiramisu for dessert.

I found out about it at a cooking demonstration a couple of days before the lunch. I am not sure, but I think it was too late to sign up the day of which was the day it was in the compass. I don't know if they had reached their maximum or what.
