Has anyone used the taxi's from the Harwich port to the Gatwick airport recently? Are their plenty of cabs available? Will be arriving on the Celebrity Constellation May 2 and debating my transportation choices.

Use taxi, hire private car, etc.. Does the ship participate/arrange taxi transportation if needed?

Help appreciated! :)

That's a trip in excess of 100 miles across the one of the most congested cities in the world. I would expect a taxi to be hundreds of dollars.

The best solution is get together with a bunch of people from your cruise (check your roll call) and book a bus

Another very reasonable solution is to take the train from Harwich (the cruise terminal is next to the train station), to London Liverpool Street Station, a taxi from there to London Bridge Station, and then a train to London Gatwick Airport. OK, it's three steps, but they're all pretty straightforward, and the train stations are AT the airport and AT the cruise terminal, so there's no serious walking involved. The cab ride in london is a couple of miles and wont be too expensive.

We're going in the opposite direction to reach our Baltic on Connie Aug. 22 after landing in Gatwick. After one night in Gatwick area to recover from an overnight flight, we're taking the train through London. You have to change stations in London. We'll use a cab for that. There are lots of trains daily, and there is a Gatwick Express. In Harwich, there are 2 train stations, one right at the Ferry Port. Log on to Brit Rail for schedules and pricing. A senior is 60 and up. As long as you don't have too much luggage, the train should work well for you.

You'll make your transfer a lot easier if you don't use the Gatwick express, but instead just a regular train to LONDON BRIDGE. Most go to VIctoria which is further from Liverpool St Stn, where the Harwich train leaves from.
