We have NEVER snagged an over 55 discount-ever. On any cruise line.

We remain optimistic.

Maybe there's not much to look forward to being 55 (cruise wise)

but I remain optimistic as well...

Sorry Snorkel Dawg, that was in 2009 and my memory is not that great. I just remember that we were looking on the RCCl website and saw a great deal for 55 and over on that particular cruise. It was not a % off, it was just a reduced cost. Hope this helps

Years ago, we were given the "senior" discount.....I thought it was 10%......but it's been a long time ago! The thing was...we weren't actually "seniors" yet...no one ever checked! (Hubby has had white hair since he was 30....looks older than he is!!)

We've never had any age related discount on our cruises.

Discount percentages, 55 plus discounts, and all the others are meaningless to us. We only care about the net price, after OBC's, for the cabin category of our choice. We continue to see many examples from our favorite cruise lines of special pricing that is far from special. We actually has one in an email this morning. It sparked my interest but alas the prices were 25 percent higher than we paid for a similar ship/itinerary/timeframe.

These pricing gags and sales pieces remind us of the duty free shops who advertise 50 perent off/no tax, etc when in fact we routinely buy most items at home for less money or for a very small premium.

We decide on a cruise itinerary and then watch the pricing on a few ship/cruise lines that are roughly equivilant. When 'our price' hits, we book.

I guess by the time I'm 55 we'll have one dd through college & hopefully close to paid for. I'll think of that as my "senior" discount

This May I received a +55 discount with RCCL for my Nov cruise. Got a JS for less than a balcony and saved over $600.

On my April 2012 Silhouette TA I snagged a 55+ discount of nearly $600 for the AQ stateroom I had booked. I was checking prices on a daily basis and one day before final payment, there it was :-)

And I snagged a great 55+ discount on my upcoming Reflection Inaugural TA. Nearly 25% off what standard fare would have cost me for the stateroom (again, traveling solo). The low price is what made me decide to book it! Twice in one year; I guess I've been very lucky

Yes, that is what I thought too after having 2 daughters and 2 sons through college. We were paying college costs for 10 years between the 4 of them! But then came the weddings ( 2 -4 months apart) and then the help with other things as they became established. But.. it is still less than college tuition and room and board!

Thurs-How did you "snag" that discount? Was it offered on the cruise lines website or through a TA?
