Choc Beach...amenities?

We will be in St. Lucia in Feb and have done Cosol's tour on two previous visits so we just want to go to a nice beach with loungers, umbrellas, toilets and maybe food. Does Choc beach fulfill this requirement? What kind of cost would we be looking at for taxi from the cruise port? We're not interested in a day pass to a resort.

Thanks for any input!

Nope, Choc beach has zero facilities. It is a lovely beach, just next door to Sandals Halcyon, and a taxi would be $20US one way - but no facilities at all. Strictly BYO for everything.

For a beach with chairs, umbrellas, restaurants, etc., Reduit Beach is your best bet. It's a little further up in Rodney Bay, a taxi will cost $30US one way. 2 chairs/umbrella is usually about $20US for the day. Taxi will let you off at Spinnakers, a great beach bar and restaurant. Long stretch of beach for swimming and watersports for hire.....

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks Reedprincess for that info. How long would the taxi ride be to Reduit and is that 30$ per cab or per person?

It's about 25-35 minutes to Reduit depending on traffic (if there are several ships in port, expect 30-35 minutes there, and 35-45 minutes back, there's only one road - very small island! lol). $30US is for up to 3 people, extras usually cost $10-$15 (some drivers will charge extra for 4, some won't.). All taxi rates in St Lucia are for up to 3 people.

  • 1 month later...

We have been to Reduit beach on a previous visit and were not impressed.

Choc beach has been recommended but did not realise that there were no facilities there.

Is the Wharf restaurant on Choc Beach? I can cope with no sun beds but would like somewhere to get a drink and use the toilet facilities.

What didn't you like about Reduit? How long ago was this? I've heard so many positive reviews of Reduit that I'd like to hear your opinion before we decide that this is where we're planning to spend our day!

Yes, the Wharf is along Choc beach. Sometimes they do have a couple of lounge chairs, so you may be in luck there! Great food when they are open....which isn't always.....enjoy your visit.
