We plan on flying out of Baltimore BWI to Frankfurt on Thursday OCT 3 and driving to Munich
1) Oktoberfest and Germany's 2nd largest Festival, The Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart, overlap that week and it is on the way to Munich plus other sites such as the Church in Ulm and Erdinger Brewery and Dachau just outside of Munich
2) Fares less and much earlier arrival.
3) Munich Airport is 45 mins from City Center by Train or Car
4) We will need a car for excursions to Bavaria and Neuschwanstein anyway so we will also use it for Dachau. turn in the car Monday AM down street from Hotel . 3 day weekend rental is same price as 2 day. Sixt Car Rental . I just got my Sixt card for express Pick Up in mail (Free) and it had an additional 10e Off Voucher enclosed!

We plan on lunch for a few hours in Stuttgart at The Volksfest then going through Ulm, City with The World's Tallest Church en route to Munich. Whether you climb for the spectacular view and see The Gargoyles close up or just see the spires in passing it is very impressive.
Just Outside of Munich is Dachau. In my opinion, The Camp is an unfortunate Must See. It is Free Admission and closes at 5pm and Car parking is 3e.
Also just outside Munich is The Erdinger Brewery which provides a great 3 hour Tour with ample Beer samples and snacks at the tour's end. Cost is 8e But FREE by signing up for a Free Fan Club Membership. Reservations Required available online.Tues-Fri 10:00/2:00/6:00 Sat 10:00/2:00 We will take the 6PM Tour then proceed a short drive to hotel for check in.

An extra Day in Munich and saving a Very Expensive nights Hotel in Venice. Of course the Con is not Seeing The Alps as we pass. Night Train is a bit slower than Day Trains BUT NONSTOP. All day trains have AT LEAST 1 Connection as far as I can tell.
