East Side Beach question

From what I've been able to find, the East Side Beach is relatively undeveloped. If we rent a golf cart and go exploring like we did the last time we were at grand Turk, would a stop at the East Side beach be worthwhile or a waste of time? Does anyone know if you can go swimming and snorkeling there? Thanks for any info. you can provide.

You'll be totally on your own, no facilities of any kind along that coast, but yes, assuming the water isn't rough, you could. Get a decent map to find the small roads leading to the beach. On the road out of the cruise port, just before you get to Governors Beach there's a right turn that'll take you to the east side facing Gibb's Cay. I think the next east side entrance is north of the airport a ways, toward the light house. There are a couple of turnoff for housing developments that can lead to the beach.

The East side of the island really gets hammered by the waves during storms, and gets its unfortunate share of flotsam and jetsam; the next land east is on the continent of Africa. I have the misfortune to walk on the beach there and get tar balls on my feet (oil drops from ocean ships.)
